    Please sponsor

    Hello all,

A work colleague sent this e-mail around so I thougt why not post it here, you might not know him, but even £1 is still a donation. I have omitted his name from the e-mail.

    -------
My 15 year old son, *sons name removed*, is cycling from London to Brighton (62 miles about) this Sunday 20th June to raise money for The African Pulse Charity. His target is to raise £200. If you would like to help him reach (or exceed) this target you can sponsor him at http://www.justgiving.com/oscar-soiza

You will be helping www.theafricanpulse.net. This is how your money helps http://www.theafricanpulse.net/html/...oney_helps.php

'The African Pulse equips young people to make informed choices in a world affected by HIV & AIDS. It develops and implements educational multi-media life skills resources for 8-14 year olds including an interactive and animated CD-ROM, comic book, video, activity book, facilitator's guide and drama.'

    ----

Edit: - Although I now realise it was pointless removing his name from the e-mail due to the way the just giving has been setup. Can I please ask that this does not turn into a debat about what the charity does, or people think about what the charity does, as previous threads have.

Ooo, controversial - this wouldn't be the same London to Brighton Bike Ride on 20th June as the BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride would it? They frown heavily upon those who raise money for charities other than themselves (British Heart Foundation), which is understandable given the cost of setting up such an event.

Regardless, I did it last year and I wish Oscar luck in completing the ride!

Just to let people know. The lad completed the ride in a little over 4 hours which included a tyre blow out.

He also managed to cycle up to 'Ditchlin Beacon' whatever that is and is apparently quite feared.

He has exceeded his target but is still taking donations. I will be donating as soon as I am paid, and hope others on here might do the same. Even small amounts.

It's the steepest incline on the ride and it's pretty long too, most people end up just walking up it. Coasting down the other side is awesome fun, though.
