Top Gear, BBC 2, 8pm (now)!

Same old formula that is repeated each week in a different setting.

Clarkson acts loud and drives quick.
May acts as though he can't drive.
Hammond act like a the perky/joking guy.

It's not even a car show now. And the stuff isn't funny because you know what they are like.

But I still watch it because it is the only program that has indirect references to cars.

Worst thing is Fifth Gear is doing the same old stuff like Top Gear. Why?!?

You can't blame them really... Top Gear is infinitely popular, Fifth Gear hasn't really gone anywhere.

It doesn't take a genius to say "Maybe we should be copying them." Mind you, watching an advert for Fifth Gear recently where a car rolled down a slope and bashed into another one was more of a facepalm moment than anything else.

Personally, I've always thought that if you've got no hope of matching a rival, you should differentiate. That doesn't seem to be a universal view though :/

I still find Top Gear funny, and don't mind that it's very formulaic and staged. It's one of the few things I watch on the BBC.
