help ive got rsi pains ,not had any twitches for a while but after playing aa a fair bit recently my wrist is aching now ,guess id better go back to il2 which is a lot nicer on the hands

whats really peeing me off about this is i could probably have prevented it with some simple exercises or taking regular breaks , god damn you video games and your addictive properties

Try to get yourself a trackball mouse for the non-play related pc stuff only use the normal mouse for gaming ball mouse for the rest. A change is very much as good as a rest when it comes to RSI, all you need to do is change a few small things and it can go away, thing is that once you get it it's very hard to get rid of.

the best thing to do to get round this, i suggested this to a mate and it works, is to have your chair slighlty higher so your wrists are not pressured by the desk, have your keyboard about waist height and let your arms relax. A Natural keyboard may help, i have been using them for years and personally love them over standard ones. As everyone else has said, take a break, when i was doing my dissertation i was coding for nearly 9 hours a day and rarely took a break but i didn't suffer from RSI pains. The best thing to do is every 2 hours or so, get up, go make a drink or go outside for some fresh air (great trick this when programming clears the mind and you become carmack like in your idea's) then go back to the pc and finish what you were doing. If possible and you can't get your keyboard closer to you, position the keyboard so your arms are resting on the desk (a middle point between your wrist and elbow) this way your wrists are no where near the edge of the desk.

Hope this helps. If you are still having problems I would see a doctor and tell him exactly how long you spend at the computer and when the pains begin i.e. an hour, two three etc etc Also checkout the BSC website they have guidelines to counteract RSI may be worth a read

Had doctors appointment today. He's referred me to physio and asked them to also check my neck as the pain may be originating from there due to the fact my whole arm/shoulder is in pain and not just wrist. Also gave me a prescription for a diuretic which he says will shrink the tissue in my wrist and should stop the numbing. The side effect - weeing a lot more

Also to get an ECG & chest x-ray done due to chest pains I've had for a few months Although he said if there is a problem with my neck, this could also be what's causing the chest pains.
