    PayPal for eBay?

Right, I've got a few eBay auctions going on at the mo, and reserve's are being met. I've had emails asking me if I will accept PayPal, so I'm looking to setup an account.

What do we think about PayPal? Like it, don't like it?

Anything I should know before I set my account up?

    Cheers.

as a seller, not sure, some I've seen make you add a percentage to the winning bid, not exactly sure what thats all about.

as a buyer, its great, the faster I can get the payment to them, the quicker I can get my purchase

As a seller, you are no longer allowed to add a surcharge for payments made by paypal as of 6th June. Personally I use paypal and find it very convenient, both as a seller and a buyer, and I've had no troubles. If you want a few hundred people to scream about how evil it is try www.paypalsucks.com

paypal is useful, just be aware that they'll take a couple of quid off you about the same as the Ebay fees again. More people are likely to bid if you say you'll take it.

Someone said something about eBay taking money out of my account again if the buyer claims something went wrong, making it risky.

    This the case?

He said "The other thing is that with an Ebay payment (who own Paypal now), they can reverse the charges at any time and the money leaves your account again.
Ergo, people can arse around a lot, although it's quite rare in the case of 'I posted it to him, he got it'.

Used Paypal quite a lot for both buying and selling and never had any problems. Just don't fall trap to those fake emails!

Never had a problem with it myself. To receive money you get charged 3.4% (sure it's this) and you will get charged to download the money to your account unless it's over £50. Also IIRC it takes a few days for your account to be activated.

With everything, there is a couple of scare stories by people who have fallen ill to some trap... But I've used it for several months, no problems, fallen for no scams and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Be careful, change password often and you should be ok. Try it and see.

I've done loads of business via PayPal, it's so much easire now that EBay/PayPal are the same and fully integrated. OK, they take a chunk if you accept CC's but worth it if it generates more sales.
