Re: Review an eGay listing, allowed?

Hmmm, direct from Dell you'd still pay around £1k for that laptop, but not many people will be buying it! 12.1" laptops seem to be out of vogue at the minute - they're too close to 11.6" netbooks - so most you need to consider the selling price of 13" laptops as well, which seem to be the preferred option at the minute. The SU9400 is a great processor for a ULV, but a lot of people will just look at the base line speed and 1.4GHz looks poor. And as for that 64GB SSD - well, yes it will help the laptop to be a bit more responsive, but most people will put that against a 500GB hdd and take the latter.

For price comparisons in today's market you need to be looking at things like the Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TZ or this Lenovo Edge 13. While you may not think they're as good as the laptop you're selling, most buyers will look at those kind of specs and then want to pay about half of that for a second hand machine. So, at the outside I reckon you might get £400 for it if you can find an interested buyer who appreciates that the ULV and SSD are specialist items that will cost more: but otherwise don't expect more than ~ £350.

That. Going by the spec, it looks like a E4200, which you will be able to get for a lot more than a D420, but a lot less than £800 going by what people are willing to shell for them.

In my opinion, there are people who will buy Dell, so I wouldn't be too worried about pricing against alternative from other brand. However, you will need to price in line with what others are selling that laptop. I reckon that up to £400 (inc), it'll eventually sell, and at £375 it'll get snapped fast.

This one has a bid for £449, but with it has a better spec and probably longer warranty. The last one sold went for £510 delivered. It's used but balanced again by a better spec.

Just to clarify it's a E4200, and thanks guys it looks like I was pricing myself out of the market. I think times have changed a lot since I sold my last one for over £800, to be fair it was a more desirable laptop, it was an E8400 or something like that. Think I just need to slash my price and I will get shot of in time to do my Christmas shopping. It's a shame because it's a lovely laptop.

At the end of the day, if you need to sell, start at 99p and let people bid.

By and large, you will get the market rate. Especially on laptops and the like, which have thousands of potential customers out there scanning for a bargain. If you need to sell it, then how important is its value? If it sells for £50, that's what it's worth, give or take.

But if it's too low, it might be worth keeping it as a gift? I am not sure how much Ebay charge for it, but it might be worth looking into the "Best Offer" option?

Local classifieds? Most allow a short free advert, might be worth a pop
