I understand that viewpoint, but I think it's reasonable to allow comments about posts as well as about the topic of posts (as opposed to comments about the users, which I don't agree with). No-one complains about posts saying 'nice post' or 'well put' etc. but they are similarly comments about the post rather than the topic.

Re: Do I go or do I stay? Your choice.

Forums always have a variety of people, groups of idiots, groups of intellectuals, groups of pisstakers, whatever.

I guess its no different to daily life: you learn whose opinions you care about, and whose opinions you can safely skirt past, forgetting that they were ever there in the first place.

Should you go? No. To be honest, as far as I'm concerned, nobody should ever have to leave a forum (unless they're posting illegal material, or trying to damage the site). Even Rollo, as credible a winner of "Worst Poster 2009" as he was, had no reason not to be on the site, in my eyes (assuming he didn't do either of the aforementioned crimes). Even if he was abused 24/7 for being the plonker that he was, that doesn't mean he should have left.

I suspect that those sorts of comments may continue, partly because most people on the internet aren't used to reading more than two sentences in a row before *Oooh, SHINY* getting distracted. And also partly because it's become almost a running joke around here, in a positive way I might add. How they're intended, whether they're misguided, etcetera, I'm not sure any of that matters to you, given what you've posted in the past. How you deal with those comments, at the end of the day, isn't any of our business as far as I'm concerned, we can hardly understand how you personally feel about them. If you feel that strongly about how you're benefitting/suffering from using Hexus, then I suppose that's your personal choice - we shouldn't be the ones dictating how you spend your free time if you aren't gaining from it.

Without wanting to make you big headed Saracen, you're probably in the top 3 of my favourites contributors to the forum. While I don't always agree with what you say, I respect that your posts are well written, and give clear reasoning for your conclusion on all issues. I would be sad to see you go, you're intellent, helpful and different - that's just what this forum needs.

Re: Do I go or do I stay? Your choice.

I completely agree with freedom to post. If everyone said the same thing it would be a bit dull. Freedom of speek and all that.

Going back to Rollo; he was kicked off BTN too and they delected all of his slides and posts. The only reminder of his being is where he has been quoted. How is that for harsh.

One thing though; if someone bashes out a long post it gets worse if someone goes and quotes the whole thing again.

Well, if we’re all ignoring your requests to not post opinions then I may as well chime in. Your original post was absolutely an ego-pimping exercise. Others have done it before and it’s not against the rules so who cares? You’re clearly an analytical and thoughtful person and knew with a high probably exactly how the vote would turn out and that you would get a lot of support, whether you asked for it or not. Case in point, there are 3 pages of generally positive support ignoring your request to only vote.

This relates back to my point above and boarders on being melodramatic. A constructive forum should never be about a popularity contest and for any moderator to try to turn it into one is a bit disappointing. As long as people abide by the rules, all opinions should be presented.

Do I think others should complain about the length? Up to them as long as it’s done respectfully. People comment on spelling and grammar on occasion so I don’t think it’s out of line if it’s done politely.

Re: Do I go or do I stay? Your choice.

I have to say that this has taken me somewhat by surprise. Is it just the odd comment that is driving you away? Surely it sounds as if there is something deeper behind this?

Either way I enjoy your posts, I must admit that sometimes I just don't have the time to read them all but generally I do try as I know what im reading is sensible, realistic, detailed and to the point.

You have helped me over the years with a number of different issues such as the time when my mother had money stole from her last christmas and you gave me valuable advice as well as your sympathy at a time when I wasn't in the best of moods so to speak

Recently you have helped me with music Which I am very grateful for and im hoping you will be here in the future to reccommend more.

The vote as it stands speaks for itself as do the comments. Hexus would not be the same without you and thats my personal honest opinion - So I hope you stay

Not gonna read anyone elses posts on this, mainly because its a question directed at individuality and reading others posts would influence any comment made here.

Anyways, I take the pith out of yer posting the same way i do for anyones, you are who you are and you post the way you post, end of.

If you were abusive, overly insulting, unhelpful or downright salacious, well then you'd be Madduckuk, and we love him too

Don't you mean Woman? The only woman I know of on this forum is Tig! Or maybe I just assume most posters are male, which probably implies something not very good about my gender biases...

Considering the message in Saracens sig, I'm surprised he's bothered

I voted stay, as per others yes they can be long winded and some I've chose not to read but those that i have i find informative and well written, Jesus, i think your some sort of lawyer/legislator.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

I'm a woman. I just have a very deep voice. And a beard.

Totally agree on the whole 'don't read it if you don't want to' approach, we all have mixed amounts of time and interest when it comes to browsing but Saracen's posts are always well worth a read in my experience.

    Stay, to be honest.

I know we have clashed in threads before etc but if I see a post that is long (not just yours) then I either skip it and move on, or wait and read it later if I have time, even if it means im 4, 5 or 6 pages behind in the thread.

Re: Do I go or do I stay? Your choice.

I've not seen anyone tell you how to post.

I've seen plenty of people of people complain about the length of your posts - where's the harm in that?

You seem quite unhappy here, and if people suggesting that your posts are too long is enough to make you remove your account from a forum, then I would humbly suggest that an internet forum is no place for someone as sensitive as yourself.

I'd be more than happy for you to stay - I don't read all of your posts but if I have time and/or if I'm sufficiently interesting in the subject matter, I happily will. So again, I'm happy for you to stay, but I think there's not really any need for this poll/thread, apart from an ego massage.
