paypal limited account help?

Confused.

I tried to buy something the other day, and now my paypal account has become limited, which is apparently a bad thing. So I'm trying to follow the steps to 'unlimit' it, and I've done everything I can (phish free) apart from the last step which it says is to add bank account info. 1) I'm not sure I want to do this, but 2) they won't let me try, because apparently limited accounts can't add bank accounts.

So it looks like I'm limited, but that prevents me from doing what they want me to do to unlimit it.

Help?

Just drop them an email/contact form.

They're that useless they once freed my account based on that (I'd completed about 2/4 steps they wanted) & didn't require any other info.

Righto. Will see how it progresses. I'd been avoiding ebay/paypal, and this just re-enforces the reluctance.

edit: bloody hell.

Emailed, the response is we don't do anything by email, follow the steps online (see above) or ring us.

Rang them. Stuck in automated menu hell with no options to address what I want to do. Voice commands to speak to someone are just ignored :/

Paypal is utter balls. I had my account limited for over 6 months for no reason, and I'd completed all the steps to unlimit it. Whilst it was limited I couldn't even close my account. I contacted their complaints people in the end, and to be fair they did sort it quite quickly. I closed my account nonetheless.

I swear I've never come across a less convenient and slow way of transferring money. Every time I used it I ran into problems or delays of some kind.

they hold my money too....the CS is useless and I had a feeling all the way from the beginning that they dont intend to release my money (at least not without a fight )

the given reason for limiting my account is "security concerns" when I asked what does it mean, the CS agent said, that he does not know and there's no senior staff to explain it to him. pathetic

After a few attempts and 20 minutes of hold, I got through to someone who helped. As Rob mentioned, they were okay to release the account because I'd provided 'the most important bits'. I also had to ask them separately to allow payment through to my seller, which although listed as 'awaiting a response from the seller' turned out to be related to the limited account thing (but wouldn't have been released if I hadn't asked them to separately).

I'm now praying the seller got the money quickly enough to go through their usual (automatic, presumably) dispatch procedures. I don't want to have a 'get this item in 2 days' turn into weeks because paypal were being annoying.
