Re: What gives you a sense of achievement?

Being kinda superficial, it's probably: getting to the end of whatever web based game I've got on the go. Knowing I will probably never be able to do level 15 Cat and Mouse is a source of grief, I just can't get the timing.

..and now that I've remembered how much it annoyed me, I've had to go back for more goes

Re: What gives you a sense of achievement?

Maths always gave me a huge sense of achievement back in the day. Basically anything where you know you can do well and you stick to your plan and it comes through perfectly in the end. Nothing beats that feeling (but it only works if it's a long term achievement ). Hoping to get back into shape after Christmas and do better in this year's football tournament. Hopefully I will be able to have that feeling again when the summer comes!

Come to think of it, building my first PC 4 years ago felt pretty good too! The sound of the fans whirring and the XP logo firing up asking me if i wanted to install... <floats off into dreamland>

Yeah Building a pc is pretty nice.
The thing about maths is that there's a real sense of excitement if you're good at it, you don't know whether you're going to get the right answer till right at the end!

Yes I am very, very sad

#2 son absoloutely punishes himself with maths. He tends to come home with marked test papers, and be so gutted about the odd questions he got wrong and that he knows where he went wrong, ignoring the fact that 7 or 8 of say 10 sections will have 100% marks and yet again hes got the highest score of all in the top group hes in...bleedin' scary!!!

Re: What gives you a sense of achievement?

Recently - learning all about infrared in photography, modifying cameras and making some profit out it.

Earlier, getting a new bodhran pupil to appreciate the difference between jigs and reels (6/8 Vs 4/4), and then getting em to learn slip jigs (9/8).

Even earlier than that, raising my kids to be decent human beings
    Cheers, David
