comedies are better with extra people but all others should be watched with as little noise as possible. When i saw Bruce Almighty, the fact that there were so many other people made it feel like an episode of friends in the way that every joke had an uproar from the audience. i really feel this was helpful to enjoying the film as it gave the right atmosphere.
People scream in horrors, it sucks tho and ruins the whole thing so i see what u guys mean

    Talking

It sounds very irritating, I must say! Well, here in Sweden it usually doesn't exists..Okay, some might laugh, but it's not like the whole crowd is laughing with em'. And applause exists only at premieers (dunno if it spells like that)..ops: which I don't think it's annoying. When I went to see LOTR nr.3 (rotk) everyone applaused at the end of the film Just because it's so damn good !

I dunno if it's for anyone's benefit, it just feels good to do so after a really great movie! And when it's a premieer, the atmosphere it's such that you feel so tempted to applaud

Dunno if this is related but......People who applaud when a plane lands??????

9 times out of 10 the plane auto lands. The pilot is there in case something goes sadly wrong and needs to override it. Hmmm...maybe another thread on airports/holidays

I think you'll find actually that although technology has moved on a great deal... it's still the pilot who lands the aeroplane... admittedly, there may be a computer translating the control column movement to the control surfaces, but the pilot still has full input control over where the aircraft goes. I've had some landings (no really ) where I've looked out of me window and seen down the runway.... basically the aeroplane's coming in literally sideways because of the crosswind... I've felt like applauding the pilot then... big cajones.....

The only time I've been on a plane when people have applauded (sorry to keep the topic off topic) has been when I flew to the states about a week after 9/11...as soon as we touched down peeps started whooping and clapping...can't really blame them too much for that one, they're probably glad to be home

lol I have to admit I talk through most films at the cinema. If people want silence they can wit for the video and watch it at home.
I just chat with whoever sits next to me and make wise cracks. It probably pisses people off, but they tend to be too polite to say anything.
Only time i was in a plane and people clapped was when it was a full blown storm, and we ended up landing on the single front wheel (rather than the normal way of the back wheels first), becuase the weather was soooo bad. Once we entered the terminal building and looked at the tv every other flight apart from ours was cancelled, because of the weather, but ours was a charter flight or something, and they had to land...:S
Meh was quite fun at the time.

Somebody I know was watching Minority Report, really very scary, right? Well, when the psychic woman (really should have paid more attention) jumped out of the water and grabbed Tom Cruise, that person just screamed out so everybody in the room (and cinema for that matter) could hear her!

People who keep making noises are extremely annoying, especially the people around my age that don't stop talking and laughing.

People like you should die. Cinemas are for watching films, not talking like a **** all the way through them. 'king hell.

I sure as hell wouldn't be polite with you, it's even worse as you are aware it pisses people off.

    lol....live with it.
or in our cineworld you can go in VIP box if you want silence.
Ands it not as if I do it specifically to annoy other people, its just im whispering/talking quietly to a friend.
No one has actually ever said anything to me yet anyway. If they did, then yes I would be quiet and let them enjoy the rest of the film.

But thats a bit mean isnt it. You admit that you'd shut up if someone asked you to and at the same time you seem to realise that it probably annoys people. So your waiting for someone to get quite angry with you before theyll tell you to shut up. It doesnt make sense. Just assume that everyone wants you to shut up in the first place
I have to say i'm not usually too bothered by people excahnging comments during a film as long as they are relatively considerate and dont start laughing in the middle of a quite section .

Usual pretty quite in cinemas here in Ireland, very load or noticable people tend to get laughed at .

When I went to see Johnny English, people clapped and cheered when he blew up the speed camera. Namely parents.
