    DPD Courier Experiences......

    Rant time......

Has anyone had any bad experiences with DPD?
I used their next day delivery service for an order i paced on Thursday at around 7pm, I was told that delivery would be between 8am and 6pm the following day. I have been regularly checking the tracker system and it was updated by saying that my parcel was in my local depot at lunchtime on Friday......great. Not so, I never received anything on Friday. Hoping i may receive it on Saturday morning, I don't think this is possible as i haven't opted for the Saturday delivery service, which is ridiculous seeing i should of had my delivery on Friday. I have also learned that they will not be operating on Monday next week due to the bank holiday.
The parcel i should have received on Friday will now not be with me until Tuesday at the earliest.

I called the local depot this morning, as it is less than 2 minutes from my home, and asked if i could collect the parcel myself today (Saturday), they said no as i had to arrange this with head office, and it could take 3-4 days to process.

So, after all this i haven't received my parcel on the next day service as promised. My parcel is in the depot which i can see from my flat window, but I am not allowed to collect it, the next day serviced sold to me will now in fact turn into a 5 day delivery service.

    Re: DPD Courier Experiences......

It might depend on who you are buying from and what level of service they've provided - from Scan the DPD service has been excellent for me, three separate orders made in the early afternoons and all arrived next day. I have an economy DPD delivery coming from CCL next week so we'll see how that compares.

Indeed - I ordered some stuff from RS components last Tuesday evening (about 7 ish) and it arrived next day by Parcel force. And I've just received (as I was writing this) a parcel from USB now, ordered yesterday afternoon at about 4pm, sent by Royal Mail first class (and a cheery "good morning" from my postie).

Citylink orders from SCAN were generally been OK, and I have had deliveries from DPD, UPS and Home delivery network. All much of a muchness, but a lot depends on the service you pay for. Pay the premium for guaranteed delivery, and you will pretty much get it - but to do that "ordinary" deliveries get pushed to the bottom of the heap. A lot depends on the delivery driver.

A lot of people moan about Royal Mail, but I have found them (particularly in the last three years or so) to be efficient and good value for money, and as the postman delivers daily, he knows the area where I live, and I rarely (if ever) get missed deliveries.

    Re: DPD Courier Experiences......

I've never had any issues with DPD. They've always arrived within the allotted time slot, the drivers are usually even friendly.

I'm not ordered that late expecting next day delivery, like Kalniel I've ordered at lunchtime and had items delivered next day but no later than tat.

    Re: DPD Courier Experiences......

The fact that your parcel was at the depot at 12 on Friday was the problem. Most depots have their vans loaded by 10am and then they're out delivering.

As for not being able to get your parcel, it's still on the trailer amongst another 1,000 ish, ao hardly surprising that you have to give them advance notice of collection

I'd expect your parcel Tuesday , if you drop customer services a polite email, might even get it upgraded to a before 12.

It's not quite the same, but I remember ordering a flash bios chip from another office at about 4PM one day, and it was sitting on my office desk at 9AM the following morning. Impressive, you might think. Then I mention that I ordered it from Dayton, Ohio and my desk was in central London. If I'd left our Dayton office at 4PM, I'd have had trouble making it back to London in that time, unless I'd been very lucky indeed with flights. I know, 'cos I did that trip a few times.

I still don't know how they got it on two flights (Dayton/NY, NY/London, cleared customs and got it delivered to my office, in that time.

Scan use DPD, had a delivery from them yest, box was in fine condition no damage, the delivery was good as they texted me exactly what hour they were coming which is fab, honestly best courier I have dealt with.

I use home when I send stuff via parcel2go.
