    Anyone know anything about book values?

    I have just been doing a little clearing out of the garage as I am about to be moving home soon and came across a couple of boxes of books. In one of the boxes I found a leather bound edition of Insomnia by Steven King, it's also signed by him and just above the signature it also has written in pen 82/200.

    I've done a little looking but can't seem to find anything about it. Anyone got any ideas of what it's worth, if anything? Or where I could find out whats it's worth.

    Cheers.

    Yea, that's where it will prolly end up, just wondered if anyone had any ideas about it's worth, so then I could gauge a reserve price.

    Cooooool... I love that book!!! Wow! What a find!! I'd keep it if it were me.... but then I'm a bit of a Stephen King fan!
    STANDARD books on e-bay don't seem to sell for much (partly because the postage is so much) BUT.... I found this at Amazon

    I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

    You're in luck, my dad used to help out in Oxfam pricing books during the short while he was redundant this year: he says that it should fetch £200-300 if in good quality and genuinly signed. good luck on the auction, mate

    I would say the quality is good, but it's not mint, it's been sat in the garage for about 6 years, although it has been in a box. I'll post a couple of pics in a few minutes. How can I tell if it is a genuine sig or not?

    Never thought of checking Amazon out, thank you Found this as the discription of one of the books on there:

    Comments: - SKU: 99053968; Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. Limited. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Deluxe binding with coloured endpapers and a bookplate with the author's facsimile signature, in matching slipa.

    This sounds just like what I have although I don't think the sig in mine a copy and there is no mention in the number like I have in mine.

    Should the top of the spine be like that? Apart from that it's mint, it's never been read. I read the paperback. I got the book a few years ago after buying a whole box of Steven King books at a car boot sale for a fiver

    WOOT

    Just found this on a book collectors site,

    Insomnia UK Gift Edition with facsimale signature fine in bumped slipcase $69.99

    Insomnia UK Limited edition ltd to 200 signed and numbered copies fine without dustjacket or slipcase as issued $399.95

    Looks like I could be getting a 800XT a little quicker than I first thought

    Yeah Trash - that spine looks ok... what looks like a gap in the pages is probably a little ribbon for page marking??

    Heh, congratulations man. Guess you didn't think you'd find a $400 book when you cleaned your garage did you?

    $400, wow thats great. Im off to tidy my garage now!!
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
