    Re: Google looks different

Seems a cleaning out of the history sorted the issue. Still not sold on the new look ......... but will try to like it.

    Re: Google looks different

I prefered the old look, don't really see the point of the change but I'm not that bothered.

Talking of Bing, I realised the other day that there is a generation of kids growing up that don't appear to realise that there are other search providers available. One of my sons needed to look something up, nothing very important, just something that had come up in conversation. His home page was the MSN page, so he used the MSN search to search for google, then used Google to do the actual search!

sounds like he knows there are other search engines, he just chooses not to use them...

    Re: Google looks different

I'm not sure but I think he viewed the MSN search more as an address bar than something capable of searching the internet.

    This.

I've seen people meticulously type a complete URL, including "http://" into MSN or Yahoo! (whatever is the default home page) and searching for it instead of using the actual address bar.

And for the record, i like the black bar at the top of Google as well. Liked it when I first saw it. I always thought the list of links to other services was a bit too amateurish and tacked on.

Minor bump, to add now they're at it with Gmail http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/0...-new-look.html I hate it already and I can't find any Preview and Preview (Dense) under Themes, or is that just me.

The amount of times I have logged into someones machine and seen 6 or 7 toolbars, all wth search boxes.

Movie bars, yahoo, google, Virginmedia (yes, we are guilty too), Norton, Mcafee, AVG, Freethis, mywebsearch (most hated), etc etc

I have even finally remotely accessed (and i say finally because it took 45 mins to get them to the right site) a pc and not been able to see IE on the screen for toolbars and addons, only one slim bar of white at the bottom of the screen, and the customer couldnt work out why they couldnt get online.

I personally think browsers should have a default setting that lets a max of 3 of these bars operate at any one time
