I couldn't care less about it being axed. Karma's a bitch.
Hopefully the resulting enquiries will be more than just going through the motions.

I don't care for it either however I can't help put feel Murdock is playing this one as an evil genius. He has wanted to slim down the printed word and introduce 7 day working at the Sun. Now he can, nothing the unions can do about it. Also now the company is closed down unless there is a police investigation they can start destroying documents.

NOTW - as many said, it will just a 7 day the Sun. They have already decided this before they announced NOTW closure.
Anyways, I only wished FIFA was closed down like this. Imagine an announcement by Sepp Blatter: "FIFA will organise its last match on the Womens' World Cup final and after that it will be closed down."
It looks like OFCOM is going to consider the BskyB take over according to the leek central that is Robert Peston.

Leek?
At least their getting to the root cause of it, taking a leaf from Wiki's books, peeling back the layers of the onion. It's amazing what offering the right carrot will do. I can just imagine Cameron saying "lettuce do better" Geddit?
Sure it wasn't Robert Pesto? :
I'll get me coat.

OFCOM have slightly more teeth than the PCC (but then it would be hard not to) But if this is blocked (as I hope it will be) that would be a more significant set back for NI. Closing NoTW is just a minor irritation.
On the other hand, I wonder if BSkyB can continue going without the bailout.

Personally, I have always felt that BSkyB was part of News Corp, so to be honest i don't have a problem with its absorption even though I don't particularly like News Corp. The guy on "Today" really annoyed me saying how great News Corp and sky were for bringing us Sky+, it was TiVo who were reposible for popularising the PVR. Though OpenSource guys did it first. Sky did EVERYTHING they could to stop Tivos working and block other vendors producing equipement to PVR sky content. A Tivo had to re-recorder content, and use IR to switch channels etc. Rather than being able to capture the stream.
Personally i think SKY should be required to give common access to its environment, that way people could legitimately get decoders for SKY content. Rather than having to hack/crack (probably both apply here TheAnimus) the system. Whats annoying is people who do that get a better service than sky provides. Like need to keep your sky box plugged into a phone line or other dumb stuff.

Since when have you needed to keep the box pluged into a phone line cos ours isn't and hasn't for some time.....
A single box isn't problems, if however you have multiroom, sky will phone and complain. I believe the same is the case for sky plus. Personally when i looked into it (when virgin let me down) I didn't have a phone line installed so sky proved to be a bit of a non starter however we seem to be doing well without it so I figure it is there loss not mine.
Why they can't make the box talk to each other via wi-fi and use the interwebs I just don't understand. The boxes could cluster, to prevent "cheats", people multirooming then giving a box to a friend.

I'm just glad we still have the BBC and the Guardian in this country - there was practically a media blackout on the whole phone tapping scandal apart from these two sources (before the recent developments).
Hopefully the BSkyB takeover will be blocked now. You just need to look at Italy to see what happens when there is a media monopoly.
