after seeing the comments above, I went back to the facebook page, anxious to see the mug shots and private details of HEXUS's most notorious...

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT... No personal details, no mug shots, no private addresses, inside leg measurements or anything interesting (apart from the terrific HEXUS coverage of course!) ... I couldn't even see who the other 12 15 20 were who liked the page. Epic fail.

The only person I can tell has liked the page is Nick, since we're Facebook friends.

If it was a group, different scenario, but it's not - it's a page. The only thing it will change is that your friends who formerly thought you were a dynamic, outgoing and sociable individual will now see that you are in fact an undercover IT nerd.

It would be anarchy i tell you, we would have to come out of the geek closet en masse, people would be having Hexus Pride Parades, we would be discussing technology in the street! We would be branded Nerds by the ignorant People would paint slogans on our houses like LINUX USER LIVES HERE. We would be blamed for the spread of the I LOVE YOU virus, even though it was some guy abusing drm that probably started it. There would be protests, they would have a legal age of consent forced through Parliament, we would have to visit clinics to be shown how to use technology safely, with no risk of infection, and PEOPLE WOULD ASK US TO FIX THEIR COMPUTERS!!!!!!

People who already know your real name will know your real name and what you look like (if represented on your profile pic).

There's nothing tying your Hexus user name to your facebook profile, even after liking the page. The only thing it does is advertise to your facebook friends that you're a geek.

Given how many times you have had to pass on payment information and your delivery address to other HEXUS users in the For Sale forum, anonymity is a rather strange one to be quoting

Actually, one issue is that the Hexus page admins will be able to see the basic details of everyone who "likes" their page. But unless you're friends with them, they'll only be able to see things that any other person on facebook could see if they searched for them. So the only reason not to like the page is if you don't want the hexus mods to know who you are.

Erm....
