    Look at the windsock.....

Now if thats 60knot ghusts, then thats one hell of a cross wind. Don't know the cross wind operating limits they have, but looking at the video, in retrospect, the pilot shouldn't have tried.
60 knots... blimey... I was at Duxford a few years ago and there was a steady 27kt crosswind going according to the commentary, and that was brisk enough.... I'd imagine you'd have trouble standing upright in a 60....

Re: Light breeze leads to aborted landing

Never had an aborted landing because of wind, alyjough many years ago coming into land at Heathrow, the piloy aborted because the aircraft ahead hadn't cleared the runway. Bit last minute too, we were in the last 20 seconds or so before touchdown

However, a few years later I was somewhere cold and windy, watching one of these take off.

I was at the end of the runway about 30 metres off the centreline, and about the same distance from the threshold - on the airfield side. This thing took off in very windy conditions, as it took off a gust cought it and it dipped a wing and then crabbed over where I and a few mates were watching. Bit heart stopping on the ground, must have been much the same for the aircrew.
