    Good solid pc chair?

Right my chair really needs to go and im struggling to find a good chair online though >.<, ideally looking for something less than <£80 but it needs to be durable (if over £80 then needs to be very good ) will be used frequently and so most of the £40 chairs arent good options.

Needs good back support as my current chair is just painful to sit in!.
    Any suggestions?

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

Your best bet would be to visit a PC World or a Staples, something like that, and try out some different chairs. See which ones you find the most comfortable, note down the names of the chairs and then look online to get them much cheaper.

I seen a chair in Staples for £189 which was amazing, memoryfoam NASA type stuff in it, found it on eBay for £75

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

Have a look for an office furrniure clearance shop near you. I picked a imaculate £400 chair for under £100. Found the shop via eBay, and contacted theme directly.

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

I've got a few issues with my back, had a lot of luck with this:

    http://www.ryman.co.uk/1075086003/Hi...-Chair/Product

It's exceptionally cheap at the moment, never seen it on a deal for that little before. Well worth trying it in person, most branches should have one but worth ringing ahead if you're interested.

The band across the back is better for supporting my back (in my experience) than any other chair I've tried.

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

Viking Direct clearance has always been good to me for that sort of things, picked up a couple of chairs from them in the past, usually valued at the £200 mark, bought for around £70-£80

That looks ideal, easy to assemble ? Is it comfortable ?

My girlfriend assembled mine, so I'd have to say yes

I've got two now, one at home and one at uni. Seat is good, and the whole thing has a free tile (back is attached rigidly to the seat) so you can move to whatever angle you feel comfortable and remain there until you decide to move. Theoretically that makes it less adjustable, but I find it prevents me from having it at an angle that's bad for my back.

The mesh back is great as well, especially in summer.

Obviously it must vary from person to person, but I've never tried a chair that's more comfortable than this one. I think it must just really suit the shape of my back - I have a lot of problems with the lower area, and the band forcing it inwards to encourage the natural s-bend is extremely beneficial in my case. I have it at the lowest position for that purpose.

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

12.5% off that chair aswell.... interesting! I will try and pop in my local on monday but it is a tiny store so doubt it will be there (largest thing they had before was a shredder!).

Had a look at staples and couldnt find any of their chairs elsewhere , quite expensive instore too lol!. Will have a look at a furniture store aswell since theres one on the way to uni .

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, will let you know if/when i decide

How old is your chair snooty? Looking into durability as mine was fine for a year or two and ever since its been hurting my back and wearing down loads.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's 2.5 years, give or take. I have damaged it in that time, but it's all superficial and my fault (ripping the seat cover with a dodgy button on my jeans primarily). Functionally, it's exactly the same as it was when I bought it.

It's deceivingly cheap at the moment - usually sells for £60, and I've never seen it below £45 even in sales.

    Re: Good solid pc chair?

I've struggled with this for years , a few things i've learnt.

    A. Leather is better than a lot of other materials. At the moment I have some weird mesh-holed fabric on the base of my chair and the its not very good.

    B. Too much seat padding/too soft and spongy causes bad posture. I think a seat thats a bit harder but still has a layer of firmer foam to take the edge off is best. A firmer seat gives your spine a good base to work from. Otherwise it feels like jelly.

    C. Recline! Its good to have a full chair recline feature, it helps concentration to have a chair that swivels and rocks around so your body gets a bit of play and a bit of break every now and then. You cannot hold the same posture all day, its not good. So every now and then take a break, recline back and have a different position for a bit.

    D. Avoid those silly chairs with the weird headrest bump thats way too low for any human I know and simply ends up pushing your upper back forward awkwardly, eg:

You'd literally have to be a dwarf for your head to meet that bump comfortably, it hits the shoulder blades on most people

Anyhow, i'm gonna go for this one here because im on a budget:

    http://www.staples.co.uk/sku.aspx?ID=101911

I've had one before and it was pretty comfortable
