Before the 70s the US support him after the 70s when he nationalised oil the west called him a rogue agent and tried to assassinate him, then stuck the label as terrorist.

Another issue being underplayed by many is where 400+ Russian SA24 MANPADs and loads of the latest French MILAN anti-tank missiles have gone. Many people are saying the SA24 is not a threat but fail to realise most groups have been using older SA16 and SA18 MANPADs from the 1980s in Iraq and Afghanistan, but had no access to newer systems from the last 15 to 20 years it seems(I could be wrong here). The latest versions of MILAN are designed to defeat ERA too.

It seems the US Africa Command is trying to recover as many missiles as possible:

The US is perplexed that no SA24s were used so perhaps the systems are incomplete.
Hmm I think they were claiming back in March that they couldn't be MANPAD. Problem is with these things I never know who to believe, everyone has an agenda, and ultimately the wepon is as powerful as the mind and determination behind it. I see no evidence of that in the link. They will have been most likely looted by people who want a high value commedity. The 'western forces' will probably be trying to buy them back, just as they did in Afghanistan!

It means they could be mounted on technicals though which is not good either. The MILANs are just as bad though.

I am more worried if any of these systems end up in Afganistan.

    Re: Libya's Colonel Ghaddafi dead

Rupert Colville, spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said: "It is unclear how (Col Gaddafi) died. There is a need for an investigation."

Describing footage of Gaddafi's last moments as "very disturbing", he said that if the former dictator had been executed: "That would raise issues that a crime had been committed and we would have to look at dealing with that. It is very clear under international law that summary executions are illegal.
David Cameron, however, said Libya, not the UN, should investigate the deaths. His spokesman said: "The account of precisely what happened is a matter for the NTC."
something to hide, maybe the government didn't want him to talk
