Stuff has a tendency to fall out of triangle sandwiches, especially sausages, so I go for the 'straight cut across the middle' into two rectangles. Im not a big fan of crust anyway, so sometimes I just dont even eat it...

The bit about crust allocation really made me laugh though!

Triangles, but only 2, not 4.

    4 ruins a sandwich.

I never cut my sandwiches, a) because I CBA and b) because it stops the filling leaking out onto the sandwich bag. Since I like a LOT of filling, that's an important consideration. I tend to nibble all the way round eating the crust first then I've got 2/3rds of a sandwich worth of completely crust free eating to enjoy!

Diagonal usually, apart from today's cheese and picalilly in Lunch Sarnies. I bought one of the slightly smaller loaves in somerfield cos big loaves of bread keep going mouldy in my cupboard. I like it when you get a fried egg and bacon sarnie cut it diagonally and the yolk runs into the length of the hypotenuse....nice

Either horizontally or not bother at all depends. Plates arnt nessicary when you dont cut the sandwich at all you can just place it on your mousepad but if its cut then carrying a plate upstairs is a nessecity.

Triangles are easier to eat I think, but when it's a comfort-food type sandwich (jam... or banana!), I think square is best, reminds me of school packed lunches
BACON sandwiches have to be cut square too I think.... no idea why... it's just the right thing to do!

As I develop triangular sandwiches for a living though, I have voted for the good old triangle

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

The worse thing about sandwiches is, you put a nice filling in there, i.e with some sauce/paste/whatever with it, cut it, whack it in a bag. Go to get it at lunch only to find the slightly more liquid stuff has gone everywhere inside the bag and you carefully have to route around inside the bag to find the sandwich, else you get nasty stuff on your hand's. :|

Back on topic - i have rectangle sandwichs, unless i am cutting them for a posh occasion (which doesnt happen very often) in which case it is triangles. Suppose this is becuase if you eat out sandwiches come in triangles. And in triangles they do taste nicer.

Wonder if cutting varies around the UK....
