I remembered who he was once I was prompted by an item on the news this morning, about a bunch of Americans (I think) planning on walking around Dublin for 18 hours to recreate what the man in the book did.... (!!?! Keen fans obviously!) ....I have to admit that I'm not sure I would have remembered who he was otherwise tho :/
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

aww, you appear to have gained 13 of your precious points through your whinging escapades. it's a point, doesn't mean people hate you and losing one isn't the end of the world (especially in your case when you moan about it and get 10 times as many back).
i'd be more concerned by the fact that you appear to be taking it personally, and at least in my case gave me a bad rep point back, in my case for a post over a week ago that the thread starter even thanked me for, hmm. not only that, but then mysteriousy a new member signs up minutes afterwards to make a couple of posts directly after yourself and give me a bad rep point for a post probably in the region of a month ago, where i recommended a certain television. i'd challenge anyone else to say that my two posts weren't relevant and helpful.
i'd suggest that starting personal little wars because you have taken offense is not what the system is in place for, and by creating new pseudo members or getting friends or whatever to sign up to leave bad reputation on your behalf and thereby increasing your power you are clearly abusing it. i believe there is a sticky up there ^ about it.
personally all this reputation business doesn't bother me (until i have about 30 points, at which point i will become cocky about it and lose them all as a result)
I would, however, prefer it to be a private system because even though it would allow people to discriminate, that would only be one vote in every 20, and i'm not saying certain mods should have access to the reputation-giving records. It would mean that little squables like above wouldn't happen, also.
Personally I think the rep system should not be used to dock people rep points. Being able to mark people down obviously causes hard feelings and even more so considering it is clear who did it. Unless under extreme circumstances (which would normally be dealt with by the mods anyway) I wouldnt consider marking somone down. If a person's posts are good then his/her rep will go up if the posts are sometimes dubious then the rep will remain around ten. I dont think there is any need for negative rep giving ability. Apart from the bad feeling it causes it opens up the potential for personal vendettas and discrimination

BUT don’t come in here slandering my name saying i have a second account... if someone leaves you bad rep the same day that automatically makes me does it?

YES i did feel a bit hard done by with some of the neg comments as i was just ‘making conversation’ with this google thread and for my rep to go down from 12 to nine in 10mins was harsh... but others have been nice and MAY I ADD other threads apart from this one have gained rep points...

Give the rep points a chance... See how they go. They haven't been running long so there are bound to be things that need looking at once they've been running for a little while.
If anybody gets a negative vote - there must be a reason for it. If you aren't happy with that, then suck it up and deal with it; it's not the end of the world. Everybody is bound to get some at some point. This is, after all, a place where we're all entitled to our own opinions.
If there's any hesitation about whether to give a rep vote, negative or positive, then don't - consult the sticky by Az instead.
