They are on strike; demanding triple pay AND the day off in lie or else they grind London to a halt. This is on top of 43 days holiday they already get!?

I'm in disbelief, from what i hear they are already incredibly well paid and then they go on strike like this? I'd sack the lot of them and tell them to jog on. There are plenty of other people out there that'd do the job...

absolutely insane!

Can someone explain how their unions are allowed to get away with this? There are genuinely skilled people struggling to work all over the country and these lever monkeys push for TRIPLE TIME AND TIME IN LEW?
I know there is a lot at stake in their job, but it really cannot be more difficult than that of say... a teacher?... A bus driver?... large construction machinary?... A bin lorry driver?

I say automate them and get rid of the lazy greedy beggars.

Isnt part of the problem that they keep on giving in to the Tube workers demands? can someone honestly explain to me why the companies dont just employ workers who are not interested in the union because im sure there is a LOT of people who would take up those jobs without question.

And London/the south east gets the lions share of the transport funding as well (according to the local rag £2700-ish per head, as opposed to £5 per head in the North East) so I can guess where they are getting the idea for such a bump in pay from.

IIRC the Victoria line is fully automated but they still pay a driver to sit in the redundant drivers seat, and the drivers are asked not to read papers/books in sight of passengers...

I suspect they come under train drivers... thing is that averages out across the whole of that catagory, i suspect the LU drivers bring the average up somewhat!
