Painkillers can make it worse in my experience because you don't know it hurts you push the joint/muscle just as hard as you did before when it really needs rest.
Erm, as I said the pharmacological properties of painkillers are as such that they are designed to 'mask' the pain! The idea is to take the pain away and then rest. You will recover more quickly as the spasm in your back will clear as you are painfree. Painkillers, rest and nice warm baths. Said. Believe it. Thanks.

You tried my suggestion? Can't take credit it for it but it was easiest excercise from 6 months of physio!
Over reliance on painkillers almost cost me mobility in my right knee, taking painkillers means you can put too much load through a joint damaging it further, I would rather take the pain and be cautious than be come off painkillers to find that the area is in worse shape.Originally Posted by menthel

If heat doesn't work, try cold, like an ice pack or towel that has been in the freezer. Helps my sciatica no end
Hope your back is better by friday!
