Totally understand your point however for around 95% of customers, nothing has been taken away as they don't go anywhere near the caps being imposed. In addition, those customers have just had the cost of their broadband reduced so most of them will only see the positives. As for the discount I can't speak for BT pricing but they probably changed him over to an account with no email or a standalone broadband account with no Yahoo extras.

well i'll agree to disagree with you there AZ =)

still i suppose it wont really affect me, i'll have to be on NTL (shudder) at uni and since my parents' BTBB contract runs out next month i'll make them move somewhere else - its better to be paying more or even risking a dodgy isp like bulldog than the face only having 512kps broadband for 2 weeks a month

All ISP's should offer various capped and uncapped packages to users to give them the choice. Plusnet do, if you want uncapped you pay for it.

Large ISP's should get there capacity sorted, smallers ISP's cope fine with high bandwidth users and still make a fair profit. Economic wallop as usual...

bt broadband has been very reliable for me, has only been down once in the 15-16 months i have had it and that was at 3am, by the time i got up the next morning it was fine. One of my freinds has been with pipex for about a year and had 3-4 downtimes.

When i read about the changes with the cap being introduced i was going to look elsewhere for the connection, but then saw that with the 1mb i would get more than i would ever use anyway. The upgrade effects me for 1.99 p.m for double the speed.

The only time i ever upload is when i ftp up to the website i update and i very rarely download. Doesnt effect me at all and im a pretty heavy user.

All in all bt broadband has been great for me, my gaming pings are excellent compared to a lot of other dsl users so im a happy camper... people shouldnt judge the broadband service based on the dial up/isdn service.

This will be a problem when you share your dsl with 3/4 other people in the house like i do. Especially when they all game alot and surf the web aswell.
