My experience of eBuyer.com Returns Department.

I'm actually extremely disappointed right now. I've always had pleasant experiences with eBuyer, but I'm going to be using SCAN exclusively from now on. Here's why:

Back in 2009 I bought a graphics card and had to return it a few weeks ago. For about a year it would just choose not to display the picture, it was a really weird intermittent problem. I systemically tested it and found, what I believe to be a faulty card. After all, why would I send it back? I return the card to ebuyer.

Fast forward a few weeks later, I receive a mail that there is no fault found. Even though I implicitly described what I experienced with the card. That's actually not the kicker! eBuyer decided to send the card back to a address on my account that was over 2 years old.

I no longer live at that address, infact I live 100 miles away!

I have now been shunned and told to go and pick the item up, it's 'My fault' that I didnt receive their email about 'You must notify us if you wish to change address'.

I've suggested that they adjust their policy for orders for 2 years old.

I guess i'm just disappointed they could of atleast made the effort to return my card. I'm now missing a graphics card.

Never using eBuyer again, and suggest you do the same.

eBuyer isn't the first and won't be the last to test an item that was sent as faulty and not find a fault. You can see that by even visiting the Scan section of these forums.

It is your fault if they did send you an e-mail and you didn't read it, it is however not right if you did not receive and e-mail. This is just a good old case of your word against theirs. However, I did something similar previously, I disregarded an important e-mail as I just thought it was spam.

It's unfortunate, but I would happily use eBuyer again, never had no issues and the one RMA experience I had went perfectly well. I suggest them to everyone, as I do other competitors such as Scan, CCL, Amazon etc...

Re: My experience of eBuyer.com Returns Department.

That's all great, but my experience is actually like some sort of weird catch-22 black hole.

    1. They find no fault with a faulty card. Frustrating.
    2. They send it to an address which is over 2 years old.

You have to see my point, why can't their web software have a situation where 'IF order date > 12 months' -> Client must log into website, checkbox confirming address.'

    It's just good customer service.

I'm now left with a faulty card 100 miles away, and they are quoting policy which should only apply to relatively new orders.

I do understand where your coming from and I would be frustrated if I was in your shoes, but I don't see what you can really do about it, other then go get the card yourself.

Unless you can prove that they didn't send you the e-mail which just isn't going to happen. I take it the card is still under warranty? Maybe you could just try arguing your case more.

The card is completely under warranty. I didn't inclose a returns address, but logic dictates that items are sent back from where they are picked up from.

Isn't that how its supposed to work!

    I would tend to agree.

If you are dealing with a company that you had already established an account surely the responsibility falls to you to make sure the address associated with that account is correct.

IMO you screwed up and are now trying to pin blame for that mistake on eBuyer who did what most other companies would do, they sent the item to the address on the account because they were not told to do otherwise.

Indeed, and that is what they did.

Unfortunately the OP hadn't updated the account address, and didn't notify them when he got in touch get the RMA number or enclose a return address when the goods were returned.

Sorry but an oversight on your part does not constitute a failure of service on theirs. Learn to take some responsibility for your actions and life gets a lot less frustrating...

Funny, when I read the title I thought it was going to a positive story

    [/sarcasm]

Edit: Seems to me it was an unfortunate oversight on your part (in regards to returned address). I would just point you to danroyle's PSU fiasco with Scan if you think they're any better with intermittent faulty items.

It happens, unfortunately, just need to get on with it, it's not malicious or bad service per say. Pain in the rear I know, but that's life.

Re: My experience of eBuyer.com Returns Department.

All of the online PC companies i have had RMA's with have been pretty useless, and dragged their heels (or ignored the issues completely):

    Worst to least worst:
    - Overclockers - delivered a dead GPU to me. Informed them after 4 hours of taking delivery, and refused to replace.
    - Ebuyer - Delvery never arrived, and stated 'i signed for' the package. It was delivered to the wrong town, and did nothing. Went the legal route and won
-Microdirect - Box flattened on delivery and i refused to sign for it. Took almot 9 weeks for a refund to appear with me

The only company i have used that i haven't had issue with is Scan. That may be because i haven't had to RMA anything to them. On the other hand, they may be good at RMA's but I would be wary to say the least, as no-one else seems to be able to get it right.

They will return to your REGISTERED address, and not where they pick it up.

Why are you using eBuyer.com in the first place? Their stuff is always £5/10 more then everything on Scan.co.uk or Overclockers.co.uk

Like spending more for the same product or something?
