I tell them when they join. I remind them when they get issued a new machine. It's in the damned IT Policy which they have to sign a form to acknowledge that they've read. And there's still some idiots that assume they can use work machines for browsing porn. I tell them "Your web usage is logged, and every so often I amuse myself by going through those logs". Ye gods. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEJITS! *SLAP!*

Indeed, 'inapropriate' usage of company PC's is usually a sacking offense.

I've issued a warning to the two guys concerned. If it happens again I'll refer the matter upstairs to the HR types - and I'd guess that disciplinary action would follow. I'm hoping, however, that demonstrating that I know EXACTLY where they've been'll put a crimp in their style before it gets to that stage.

Most blocking software I've seen in use is pretty crap TBH; and it should be enough to let them know that I know, if you see what I mean.

you could always re-direct the most accessed dodgy sites to a nice "This inappropriate activity has been noted and logged against your record" page in nice big bright colours to let everyone else know behind them

You should refer every incident to HR or you could be in trouble if they find out you knew and did nothing. It only takes one young female member to leave after she has seen inappropriate material on someones PC and your company could be facing a highly damaging Sex Discrim case.

From day one we have banned all personal browsing and emails and informed all staff that all emails and browsing is monitored. Luckily the IT dept can browse Hardware review sites
