    First problem on Ebay...

    Ok

I have been signed up to Ebay for the last week and have just sold this item:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MESO:IT

Now, everything seemed to be ok...and i was about to invoice the guy out. Until ii noticed his address He lives in the USA. At the bottom of my auction I said I will only post within UK so what can I do?

I have emailed him saying pretty much I will only post within the UK so does he have an address I can send to, or is he willing to pay more for me to send it out to the USA! If I do send it out to the USA, how much will it likely cost? And also can I get some form of 'recorded delivery' so I know he receives it?

I am a little miffed at why he has put in a bid for something that is for the UK!!

Click that beast for Royal Mail rates!

Alternatively you could use a courier.

If he doesn't mind forking out, then you could even ask him for his preference. Then he can't complain.

Hmmm, looking at that....I can see this is either gonna be:

    a) A headache sorting it out
    b) Costing a fortune compared with the actual price I am getting for the CD!

...All i wanted was a nice simple clearout of stuff before I moved house!!

You could just tell him no. The fact that you stated UK only gives you some leigh-way. Talk to Ebay, but I thik you should be fine.

Tell him if he wants it he'll have to pay the difference for postage to the US. Otherwise, Sell it again, or give to the second highest bidder, if Ebay lets you know such things.

You've listed it as post to the UK only, he's in the US, if he won't pay the postage you can claim your fees back or just re-list it (non paying buyer)

The problem with searches on ebay is that they now throw up stuff worldwide. He may be a plank who didn't realise that his search through up an item in the uk, and being unable to read, he bid on it. Ask him what he intends to do, bearing in mind cost of postage -v- cost of item, and take it from there.

I had this a while back.
Sold an item then found out he lived in New Zealand - went off my head, but then found out he has all his bits sent to his Dads address, and picks them up when he visits.
Even paid me a little extra for me troubles - so it might not be 'that' bad

I had one myself, someone in France bought it, and seeing as I work for a courier firm it was not a big issue, but I told the guy I would ONLY ship with the company I work for, hence he would get discounted rates, I charged him a discounted rate up to the point where it covered all my fees, but I could have really gone to town in all honesty and charged him £40 next day delivery, as it was he got it for £18 he was happy and so was I.

IMO I would not put off sending the item to him, I would discuss it and get to an amicable solution, the only difference sending to the USA is you have to fill out a two line Commercial invoice, all you would do is write 'CD not for resale' and it will breeze through.

Might cost you like 1.50 more to post to the USA than the UK, but as long as the US guy is amicable then go for it.
