Most forums I've visited have a link to the main homepage at the top of each forum thread page, usually the large title graphic. In Hexus' case this leads to the forums homepage and not the main Hexus homepage. Frequently I've wanted to go to the main Hexus page but have had to search for the link to get me there. It's not exactly prominent down at the bottom, is it? IIRC Az or Shorty stating that the main image had to link to the forums homepage to meet some accessability legislation but how about a similarly prominent image up there as well linking to the homepage?

Yeah I agree it isnt that obvious there is such a thing as the main site if your in the forums. It would certainly make sense if the main Hexus logo linked to the main page but maybe that is not possible.

Saying that it still wouldnt neccesarily mean that people would visit the main page any more often. After all most people on the forums know about the main page but just rarely visit it.

Hey, I visit both I must admit that I didn't look at the poll at all until it was posted here though.

Seriously if sites like [H] promote their forums constantly, and have huge links to them, I don't see why hexus shouldn't.

And what is with people voting No? What possible gain is it to them? Only two reasons I can think of is rivals, or mods wanting a reaction...

Forums don't bring in revenue, in fact they do the exact opposite.

Can see where the staff are coming from tbh, but it would be such a shame.

How many would still visit hexus if forums were closed though? I used to visit the main site a lot, then found out about bargain hunt and started frequenting forums, but still occasionally visiting the main site, voting in polls, etc. But I also am not in the process of upgrading atm, so reviews were less relevant to me recently.

I suppose as a means of getting attention the polls are good. But don't close the forums, pretty please.

You're probably right about a lot of people voting the wrong way as well. But I think what the mods were after was to make us aware of the site, and the visitors to the site more aware of the forums. It's certainly acheived the first of these (well, with the regulars anyhow).

I wouldnt im afraid. Nowt against it but I've never used the main site, my first introduction to hexus was through the forums back when GSV were here.
