Thumbs down Bad experience with Vision Express...

Just posting really because I am really annoyed at Vision-Express's attitude in this situation, considering a complaint letter:

I recently had my eye's tested at the Vision Express branch at the Victoria Centre in Nottingham. After having my eye's tested I left the store with the intention to come back in a couple of weeks to purchase some glasses from them.

Two weeks later I came back and after looking around with my friend I found some I liked from selection and a female representative sat me down to talk over the choices.

The frames I chose were Polo Raph Lauren and as I was sat talking to the representative I noticed she seemed very pushy to try and make me move away from standard lenses and opt for the far more expensive thinner product they have available.

After a couple of minutes of discussion I had made my decision and was in no way interested in the thinner lenses available so once or twice again I politely said no to them. At this point the representative became very rude as she responded by telling me if I opted for the standard size lenses the glasses would look 'rubbish.'

Once again I said no thanks to the thinner lenses. Her attitude then changed again and told me that not only the glasses would look 'rubbish' (her exact words) but she also tried to claim the thinner lenses were the only ones available.

I then just got up and walked out.

I have been wearing glasses for over 15 years and I am fully aware of the options to me and what I would like from a pair of lenses; this is not an area I am expert in but I do understand and know what I want.

The lenses I currently wear are standard one's from Vision Express and I am happy with the look they provide me with and are stylish enough and do not look out of place on frames that are fairly similar to the ones I had chose to purchase.
I have since bought glasses at a local Boots Opticians, they were friendlier, cheaper and just better to be honest...the glasses took a week to come back rather than 1 hour but they are better.

The quote area is from part of a complaint letter I am thinking about sending to Vision Express...first of all I'd just post on here to warn others that the service you get their I don't feel is very good.

    Thanks

    Tom

I can see that you're upset! I'm glad you find somewhere else..where they were friendlier.

I used vision express here and they were superb, then half the staff left and it went completely downhill, so it's just down to which staff are there not the chain..

Glad to hear you got it sorted in the end though

And now for an on topic post....

My dad had a similar experience with vision express ages ago, he wanted some simple glasses n frames to go to work in and they kept trying to sell him more expensive stuff, we moved to boots and found em much better, Don't go that often meself as my eyes are fine but im informed by the rents that they're much nicer.

Were the frames rimless by any chance or half rimmed? Or were they just normal frames?

I went to Vision Express and had excellent service. The guy who sorted out the frames and everything was a legend , but I have heard people who have had terrible epxeriences, and it varies massively between branches.

Stewart Greenberg have to be the biggest pile of kack in the glasses industry. Im not going into why but they could quite easily be part of the third reich.

Must say I used the Vision Express in Victoria Center Staff seemed ok to me when selecting frames lenses etc, mind you ended up spending £300+, though when I went to pick the glasses up they seemed to be a little less helpful, couldn't fault the glasses though. The last pair I got from the Vision Express in West Bridgford and I can't fault the staff there at all, very helpful.

didn't they do a watchdog thing a while ago with a 'happless young lass' aka undercover reporter, who got her eyes tested at london's leading eye hospital/specialists (i.e pretty damn accurate) and then went to boots, specsavers, vision express and other known high street opticians...
the result of the report was that the eye tests were often way way off those of a specialist and then once a test was done they tried hard as they could to push very expensive frames on you.

Wilko - I think you should state how bitterly disappointed you are and you shall be taking your money else where. Furthermore, you have informed all your friends who might decide to get glasses in the future to avoid vision express...
...that'll shove it back at them.

They were just normal dark frames...covering the whole lense

The glasses I have from BOOTS are so nice and comfortable to wear. In fact, the last pair I had were Vision Express and I gotta say I got rid of them for this pair because they didn't fit right....that place has issues imo now.
