    'Go google it'

This phrase seems a bit sad to me. There is a nice friendly atmosphere in these forums and I think that is a kind of sad answer. Someone is asking a question and perhaps they have tried googling it but didn't put in the right thing. If you know the answer then perhaps it would be nice just to spend a few moments looking for it and helping someone. The world can be a nice friendly place!

Nice in theory, and idealistic, I remember being that way once, lol. But after the umpteenthbazzilionth time you hear someone ask a question that would have taken them 2 seconds to either search Google or search the forums it gets a little tiring. And I suppose that while you could argue that it takes 2 minutes to help someone answer thei query, if they were also thinking of others then they might put that little extra bit of effort into finding the answer themselves, meaning that other people didn't have to do the legwork for them, that's a key skill in life in general, not just forums.

Anyway whatever, i'm all for peace and love.

If someone posts a question, and I know the answer, then I'd post back with it! I bet most of the threads here could have been answered with the help of google, but then we wouldn't have a forum.

I agree with all thats been said re: google but i will say that the kno2wledge you gain here is from experiences of certain hardware items and not from here-say lets say for instance that some hexusite reccomends a card you will go with that recc knowing that all the people here know their sh**e and that either you can make it a better object than it was before or that you made a good purch, either way you are happy, thats what splits a search DB into a knowledge (interactive DB)

Yeah me too, even though I know it can be hard sometimes too get a perfect answer to your question. Somtimes I even feel bad when I tell folks to google it. It sounds re-jecting.

You think it's bad on the forums? Go on IRC and you'll see what it's like.

You get people ask "hey can someone give me a direct download link to the latest cats?"

I never bother saying "Google it". Seems a bit rude. I just give them a link to the Google search. Lol.
