As a father of a 4 year old daughter I have to say that this story has shocked me to my core.

Why do these disturbed people do it to anyone?. I'm sure a psychologist could come up with theories but as the gunman is dead, I guess we sill never know for sure.
His background may shed some light on possible causes, but that will be too late for the victims and their families.
But I'm sure they will take scant comfort from the NRA's mantra "Guns don't kill people, people kill people"

Kids are considered precious thats why.
But as for insanity look around.. all the bad guys that really need a firecracker up the BEEPERS are too untouchable , so kids or the disabled , old are always an easy target because no one expects them to fight back or be able to really defend themselves.
Case point .. sitting down on scooter i got hassled a fair amount , standing up on my kneewalker different ball game .
It all comes back to perception

Sincere condolences to the families of the 27, we only have to remember our own loved ones to image their pain at this moment.
And my interest ends here, tired of the existing culture that raises (and even motivates) the individuals that commit these sort of crimes to something of a celebrity.

What's with the coverage on the BBC of interviews with children at the scene? What kind of sick minded journalist goes to children from that school and asks questions like, "What did you hear?", and "What was it like?".
Seriously?
You're going to risk putting those children in a situation where they remember and relive a traumatic event just for a little extra emotion in your story?
I find that utterly disgusting and totally unacceptable.
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.
From what I understand the gunman's mother worked at the school, and was one of those killed. I have strong feelings about this but will leave it 'til I can think clearly before I post them:kneejerk reactions help nobody.
Their love for the 2'nd amendment right to bare arms winning again, no doubt there will be a call to change it and no doubt there will be outrage at the idea if it and nothing will happen again, sadly not the first or last time this will happen
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
I read this last night, I dont think words can describe how bad this is and how their families must be feeling and my heart goes out to them I couldnt bare this happening to someone I knew it would be devastating.
But I must speak about this idiotic idea that Guns are ok, they arent as we know everyone can just be having 'one of those days' and something makes you flip and having a readily available weapon that requires little skill to use means one of those moments can end a life. Seriously doubt this would happen if guns were illegal as this 20 year old wouldnt have had the money or the time (when enraged) to go and buy a weapon on the black market then kill people... problem solved for the most part and its just horrible thinking about it.
Hate this world sometimes .
None of this surprises me - people have no hope or future and its just going to get worse - so some people are going to lash out anything or any one to feel like their being heard or going out making some sort if statement.
This is not the way of course but emotions can be difficult things ,I get so livid sometimes thinking about the events that brought here I wouldnt like to imagine what id want to do to those people some days.
And kids would be one way to do it.. as wrong as it is you get put in that hole deep enough and poked and youd be surprised what might come back out
so i can see where the uncontrollable anger with nothing to lose would lead..
Im more surprised more people havent just gone awol considering how ludicrous our world had become.

Stolen guns in a gun-free zone. Gun Control is not the answer.
The poor healthcare system, poor standard of treatment of the mentally ill is a large part of the problem.
Personally I place blame on the media, 'who glorify these killers in the guise of "explaining" them'. Weeks of media coverage about this killer will inspire the next one.
Can't argue with that - I'm sure a lack of health and social care usually plays a factor in these things, as they do over here when something like this happens.
But:
Why do the general public need guns? Sure, he stole his mother's guns - but what did she need a gun for, never mind multiple guns? Unruly school kids? There are exceptions for sure - and it would be damn difficult to get the existing guns back (though controlling or stopping the sale of ammo springs to mind).
Gun control may not have stopped him killing, but easy access to guns enabled him to kill more victims, and a gun gives an element of remoteness to the victim (s).
