yay0r! Just got back from an all too brief visit, I met Deckard, directhex, Allen, David and Moby (and Will Harris of Bit-Tech). I admired some top quality kit (and the girls on the Via stand), blagged a Via T-Shirt and better still a Hexus one which I'm currently sporting, got a wicked poster of the Orac, and was generally blown away by how good Fatal1ty is. Best lunch break in ages!

Is that David in the last picture? I still don't know what the big boss looks like.

As for Fat, I'm sure he's a proper good gamer, but does he still play games from 1836, like UT? Not that impressive, as he could have been playing that every day for 8 hours since it was released.

Now, the fact that he's sorting people out on Doom III is much more impressive, as thats new out, and its talent, not vast experiance of the game, that will see him beating people.

That is David in the last pic. As Fatality said after the match I saw him play (against the guy in the suit with Deckard standing next to him in one of the pics) Doom 3 is a lot like Quake 3 so the skills are readily transferrable.

TBH, while he's good, his technique seems to be to move at very high speed on a predetermined course around the map until he runs into his opponent. Because he's moving fast his opponent is likely to miss with their first shot while he's good enough to connect with his most times. It's not actually all that exciting to watch if you ask me. That was Doom 3 though, perhaps in a game/map with a far more open level design and much better visibilty/ room to dodge the ducking and diving would be more of a spectacle. It's the same in Tribes 2; fight someone within the confines of the base and one of you will die pretty sharpish (usually me ) whereas outdoor fights can last a minute or more of dodging and shooting.

How does it work? Is it a random map and everything, or a pre-determined map, that Fat will know is the one to be used and the challenger not know? So Fat plays the map a million times until he knows it like the back of his hand, and the challenger comes in blind and gets slaughtered?

What % of his wins come because he's a far better gamer and what % of his wins come because the knows whats going on in advance? Is it weighted in his favour?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he's good, but I can't help but think these things are set up so he would have a hard time losing...

It will have gone down well if the Hexus lads were there. David and the lads know what they are doing.

What? I have a liking for Metallica's music but I've never entertained that Lars in anything but an annoying little tit who gets overexcited too frequently.

OK, that's my contribution to this thread over, bye!
