Release your books 'into the wild'

I found this in the Mail the other day and thought it might appeal to some of you Hexusians.

Basically, you register a book with BookCrossing and then 'release' it. From there you can track who found it and where it's been, while spreading some good vibes at the same time.

    The "3 Rs" of BookCrossing...

Read a good book (you already know how to do that)

Register it here (along with your journal comments), get a unique BCID (BookCrossing ID number), and label the book

Release it for someone else to read (give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, donate it to charity, "forget" it in a coffee shop, etc.), and get notified by email each time someone comes here and records journal entries for that book. And if you make Release Notes on the book, others can Go Hunting for it and try to find it!
The link is HERE. It's on a similar line to geocaching, or a message in a bottle, but with more fruitful 'finds'.

    Enjoy...

Yeah I heard of this before somewhere.

Sounds like an interesting Idea although it would take quite a lot of people to make it work very well

We could do this as a HEXUS thing though - random post things to peoples addresses and things - how much would that rock

I quite like the idea, since I have an almost infinite supply of free books, but I don't have all that much time for reading- the web won't surf itself, you know.

Some time ago, there was a post on here about 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. I sent a copy of the book to someone, with the hope that he donate it to another poster after he had read it. Is this book and reader still out there? Or has it found a dog-eared home on someone's bookshelf?
