worth me asking about job, temp to pernament ?

    Hi,

i've been temping at this IT job for a ferw weeks now as their IT guy was on holiday...

.. acutally really like it here and would like a pernament job, is it right for me to ask my boss or should it be him who asks if i want the job ?

not sure if they want the extra staff that's all... and the main IT guy is a LOT better at the job thatn me.. i know that....

or should i just leave it at me giving him my personal details so he can contact me in future if he needs me kinda thing... as originally it was through an agency who's taking a huge chunk of the money really...

    what do you think ?

Ask him. Ask him if there are any perm opening and could you apply. What have you got to lose?

Normally agencies have a 13 week period which if the company signs you on, the company has to pay the agency a couple of thousand pounds to cover for the remainder of the 13week period which you should of stayed temp.

I'd ask to have a private discussion with him, and mention that you like the role you are doing within the team and if their is a permanent position available to me, when my 13weeks (or whatever it is - ask your agency) is over.

Hm, I would say ask them. I mean it's good to show them that you're really interested, isn't it? What do you got to lose? . I hope you'll get it!

    good luck mate.

Yeh its defenitely worth asking. I know a few people who have found permanent work this way. If he does need you then it will work out cheaper for the company as well as they won't have to pay the agency as well as you.

i've only been there for 2 weeks, that's all it is ..

and its a tony company, about 7 ppl in total and that's only with one IT person...

but they have a lot of clients so would be wise getting a second

what's the best way to put it really ?

Well you've got to show the effort as well mate, all well and good asking for a job permanently, just make sure you've earnt the respect of the guy first and shown you are keen and capable and i'm sure it will all come good.

Best to ask after the end of a real positive day, just catch him at the end of the day (providing he doesn't look like he wants to fk off) and just casually ask if there is any likelyhood of work and take it from there, (don't necessarily expect an answer straight away either)

but most important of all, good luck
