msi kt6 delta lsr temp problem?

i have just installed a msi kt6 delta lsr , but when i have ran the system a while the sys temp is around 40-42 c and the cpu temp is around 52c .
on my old mobo the temps never went above 35c for the cpu and 25c for the sys temp .
my specs for old mobo etc =

    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
    jetway v400db (kt400 chipset)
    400w psu
    ata133 80gb hd (maxtor)
    512 ddr333
    geforce fx5800 ultra
windows me (but same in win xp pro)
2 fans blowing air into case and 2 sucking air out

does anybody know a way to improve the temps please

motherboard sensors are not accurate, especailly comparing two different boards. system temp sensors are likely to be in a different place on the board, and also may be on a different sensor chip... those are large differences though. if you wanted accurate cpu temp/system temps, then on-die thermal diode readers are not hard to make if you know how to solder...

is the cpu the same type, speed, and voltage? - also it may be that the first board undervolted the cpu a bit, while the newer board might overvolt, which would lead to a large heat difference.
was the same heatsink used? which one is it?/whats it (base/fins) made out of (copper/aluminuim?)? same speed fan used? is it mounted properly (thin layer of thermal paste convering whole of cpu core with no gaps, after putting heatsnk on push down a bit to squash the paste out slightly - too much is almost as bad as none at all..
were they both loaded temps and not idle? (run cpuburn or prime95)
look at your case - intake fans at the front dont really do much, though good for cooling harddisks. turn em off and note the temp difference, if there is none, save yourself some niose
ive found intakes are only helpfull blowing in from a sidepanel pointed to the cpu/ram..
put 1 80mm fan at the back bit below your psu, which is probably near to where your cpu is, that will take most the heat away...

I had an MSI K7N2-Delta-ILSR and had the same readings. Apparently, it's an error. Also, the CPU temp was reported as System temp and vice versa. It seems there's a glitch with the MSI system software.

Try installing an independent temp monitoring program like Motherboard Monitor (It's freebie, do a Google) you should notice a difference and a more accurate temp report.

OK. Did you try Motherboard Monitor? No?

Righty-ho, remount your CPU, paying careful attention to applying thin coat of Arctic silver 3 or 5 or similar.

Can't think of much else, really.

Before you splash out on a new case, why don't you try a different temp monitor?

When I used the MSI temp monitor, I was reading (for the CPU) 49C, mbm showed 42C. It was only after searching around I discovered the MSI prog was less than reliable.

Gotta be worth a look see at least, despite what Bios temps say, for some odd reason, temps always are higher in Bios, which doesn't really make sense to me, but in my experience, it is so.

If you like black, Antec Sonata is my current fave case, about £90.00, but it does come with Antec Truepower 380W PSU.

There again, I've had a few 'Generic' cheapie cases that have been really good, but right now I don't know any to recommend, been a long time since I bought a, erm, 'budget' case.

Hope you get your prob sorted, good luck.
