I don't know Saracen but it might be a thing at the moment. Peterb appears to have a variant as his avatar. Not every dumb internet thing starts in 4chan.

Maybe, TA, hence the "one chance" to explain.
I don't want to go into a long explanation in a thread about Iceland, where even cold weather and my Alaska post are a bit off-topic, but to drag that onto Wimbledon is an obscure leap, and then that image is the straw that finally broke the camel's back.
And even then, despite a very clear warning, was ANY attempt made to explain that image, or the accompanying remark. Nope, not a thing.
And even that is on top of a very large amount of background I don't propose to go into. Even a cat only gets 9 lives, not 99.
And I think, in a thread nominally about Iceland, that's enough on that subject.
how the hell did the camera lens not freeze over taking that excellent photo?

I shoot Pentax. Every dslr body they make is weathersealed as standard. It was taking the cold far better than I was! I saw someone's 350D die inside the jeep we were in (shutter failure), meanwhile I was jumping around outside in the cold. Take the right kit, and treat it correctly (gentle changes to acclimatise, I often leave my kit outside my hotel window in a metal chain mesh back, so it stays with the right humidity and temp, yes, it has an alarm).
I like this one more:
The scale of this is completely lost in the photo, it's massive, and I just didn't get it. Worth a visit, it's part of the Golden Circle tour.
This is just what the terrain is like, so alien.

Our intrepid guide stuck:
(this last one was really hard, I was shaking so much when taking it. For the photo geeks its 1/100th at 16mm, with IS on. It wasn't the cold, but the battering the wind was giving me).

How long was the exposure in the first picture??
30seconds, probably should have only be 15seconds, but it was my first time shooting such things.

Any deals that involve meeting Bjork......and spending 4 days "trapped" after a Volcanic eruption.....would get my vote
Hmm, I don't know. It looks like I might have taken an aRGB jpeg, and used imgur which has made a bad conversion to sRGB. However it was a layered stratus all the way to cirrus (you can see some of the cirrus more to the blue sky side).
I'll have to dig out the RAW and have a look. This was back in my aRGB phase, mostly likely something due to that making the curves stretched a bit. The RAWs are stuck on the archive machine which is offline atm, so I'll try and get round to it but it will take me a while! Some of the other JPEGs I've got however show this layering too, so it was definitely real and I doubt exaggerated much in post pro.

Layered clouds are a natural formation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenticular_cloud
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
When doing my metrology exam the text book said that lenticular were formed over mountains, now I know better evidentially.
I will say that the colours/contrast of it look wrong. It could be natural, the camera would not have been metering for the clouds and the dynamic range of a K20D of 11 ev or something. If I'd turned up some of the exposure to be able to get the ice/snow to look 'how my eye saw it' it is possible I've burnt out/clipped certain bits of the cloud.
Worth mentioning again that Iceland did feel like another world.
