I have just (as in got it this morning before lunch) got a Samsung UE40F6670, it's out of your price range but the entry range F6100 should be ~£500 if you shop around and if the tv is anything like mine it's very good, the bezel is so small it takes up the same space as my old 32" Nordmende samsung knock off! IQ is very good, HD channels look the biz, network streaming works well (mkv doesnt work with the built in app but Plex is in the app store which I use with my Now TV box so it's on my server)
bezel is about 5mm if that, can barely see it there.
It's got component, I'd use a dvi-hdmi adapter as I dont think it has DVI but the dig-dig connection wont lose any quality
I have been looking at these for just a bit more money (LG cinema screen smart 3D tv). Not sure I would use the 3D much, but dual play sounds excellent for things like mario cart 2 player

Edit to add: 32" is in budget.

Are you after more size or more features/quality?
I would stick with Samsung or Panasonic on current generation TVs, across the ranges they really are the best.. Samsung really have been doing well the last 2 releases.
Already purchased the panasonic one from John lewis. Cracking TV! love it
