I doubt they will fold straight away! Did they acknowledge the advertised fees on the link?

Re: Paypal Fees! you may want to read this :)

Well heads up for anyone wanting to know the significance of it: added up my PayPal fees, nothing else, not taking eBay fees into consideration, the accumulated amount of PayPal fees adds up to £46.84.

I would like to be sick if I may... That's even without eBay fees of 10% + listing fees. So I suspect that figure will be quite a bit higher!

I don't know what's worse; the fact that we have to pay them for a service we are forced to use, or that they have different rules for us in the U.K making it somehow OK to shaft us further.

Edit: right so I logged in and checked OP's link and sure enough it says free for personal account holders but blank in premier/business.
Having checked my account it seems I'm premiere but I don't recall ever asking for that?

I searched Paypal for "What are the fees for PayPal accounts" and got this highly informative page: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/helpc...Id=11927&m=SRE

Edit2: now in talks with PayPal CS and they say U.K pay fees no matter if premier or business, personal accounts where changed to premiere.
I argued this was criminal and done on purpose to force personal users into paying fees, they respond with automated response basically saying f*** o**

"If you have a question or problem that needs immediate attention, please log in to your PayPal account and go to contact us.

We look forward to helping you.

    Yours Sincerely,

    PayPal"

Then the phone rang from PayPal in ireland but I missed it.

Edit3: Still going back and forth with CS, passed on from one guy to a woman but they keep ignoring my accusations and instead telling me personal accounts (now called premier) all pay fees on funds received.
It seems to me they have been pretty crafty here in switching people from personal to premier they have effectively changed the contract with the customer and along with it forced us into paying fees.

Re: Paypal Fees! you may want to read this :)

Even so why should it be free in the US if it isn't in the UK anyway?

Either way it forces people to sell at much higher prices because eBay and PayPal knick a wad of your cash.

Premiere seems to be the basic account, if you click "upgrade" it tells you "do you want to ugprade to a business account".

Notice how the OP uses £'s not $'s. This would mean he's in the U.K somewhere.

There's more to this than meets the eye I reckon.

Yep as the others suggested I'm from the Anglelands! Up north somewhere

If you are logged in before clicking the link it should take you to the page that shows it's free to receive funds!

There are or were 3 PP account types . personal, premier and business. Personal used to be free but people could not pay with credit-card only "pure" paypal or paypal linked to a full UK bank account. Premier was a personal account that could accept direct credit-card payments (but you need to pay the fee) ... and business is business

At some point the personal account started to incur fees for all ebay transactions. When this happened i don't know as I always thought it was free.

I have come to the conclusion ebay and paypal are a bunch of lying, bescumbering chiselers.

I'm guessing around the time they started automatically upgrading peoples account once they had received X amount of card based PayPal payments.

    Oh this is undeniable fact.

Once I mentioned to customer support that you had to be logged into a PayPal account to read the page and see it says receiving funds free for personal and blank for premier/business; they stopped replying.

    They certainly can't use email.

Since being with PayPal I have received a massive total of 0 email replies. They simply ignore every single email I've ever sent them.

It' scabby mind, the amount of fees they slip in is terrible.

Thanks for posting this up, least we know what to do in future

Re: Paypal Fees! you may want to read this :)

Can the OP show any proof he got refunded fees for ebay sales? because after having email discussions with various different members of staff it seems it has always been this way.

The link he posted proves nothing as: Personal Payments are payments between individuals for no commercial reasons, i.e. for the purpose of personal, family and/or household affairs. For example, a person sending money to their brother to buy their parents a gift. As you're actually selling goods, the correct fees are being applied to these transactions. Transactions fees are applied to all transactions specified as goods or services payments, regardless of if the accounts used are marked as business accounts or not.

Wow, you want me to provide proof. Sorry I'm not going to waste my time doing that. I just wanted to give people a heads up, if you aren't successful, then you may want to try again or give up.

I have used paypal since 2001 and like i said there were 3 accounts. Personal, Premier and business.

This is what the 3 account types had to offer:

Personal: free to send and receive for ebay items and "gift payments"

Premier: had the percentage fee to receive but you could accept credit cards. (ebay used to have a listing option to accept credit cards via Paypal)

Business: as it says on the tin.

I had a personal account at first, and mine was auto upgraded to premier. I found out about this, I was told a few years ago that once the account is premier, It can't be downgraded to personal, so I decided to migrate this account for use with my business and turned it into a business account and opened up a new personal account.

I was under the impression the personal account was still free for ebay purchases, but it appears that it's not any longer. I called, like i said and argued. I manually made him input the link, and he did not see the same page as me, but he escalated the call to a manager that did see the old advertisement for the free fees and they credited back all transaction fees.

When the fee was introduced to personal account I do not know. But I do know that is was free before. as for staff saying it has always had a fee, they are lying. Ive used paypal longer that 99% of paypal staff, and have a long history with them (mainly on my business account), they decided to hold over £10,000 of my funds as my business was deemed high risk, dispite only having 1 credit card charge back in almost 4 years of trading.

Paypal will say what ever they want to you on the phone, they are, as far as they are concerned, above the law.

In the past a personal account was automatically "upgraded" to premier if your item sold on ebay a was paid using a creditcard via Ebay. at some point
