I sometimes get emails twice (like the "i'm watch" thingy), and for some competitions, I don't get a notification email at all (like the Crucial and Plextor SSDs, the PNY GTX770 or the AOC monitor from a while back).
I have yet to get an email notification about the "new" Coolermaster competition from Dec. 6th, even though I've entered that one already and got the confirmation email
If I wouldn't bother looking at http://hexus.net/competitions every now and then, I'd miss quite a few of them.

But then that is worthwhile as HEXUS has so many competitions with good prizes, as well as the other great content here! We do require a little effort to enter - like visiting the site - you know!

I compete, cuz you can't win if you don't play.

I like the structure of the contests, good way to educate the people, force them to read the article.. good product announcement really.

No ! sherlock . But what's the point of the "Please tick here if you would like to receive new HEXUS competitions and Newsletters via e-mail." below every competition if it doesn't work properly..? Because that's what I was talking about in my previous post.

I do check the forums semi-regularly either way. Mainly because of my Abit FTP mirror and abit related threads in the abit sub-forum. Not posting much elsewhere though.. language barrier. Knowing what you want to say/write, but not knowing how is quite annoying to say the least. Missing vocabulary, the differences in sentence structure between English and German and my long time mess-up factor (tenses) are some of the reasons why I usually just don't reply to threads on here, rather than posting some Germanglish/Denglisch crap in 3 different tenses thrown into a blender, leaving everyone confused as to what the hell I was trying to say.. lol

I wouldn't have thought you had concerns about posting in English had you not mentioned it. I've seen a phenomenal number of native speakers who aren't even close to being as clear as you!

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

I love how people come on here and complain about the comps. Yet only have a few posts.

I came and joined this forum for the wealth of knowledge and helpful people. Not for the comps.

A win would be nice, but not something that I feel that I deserve.

    Stop moaning.

    Merry Christmas

They're not "beating" probability. Everyone has the same chance to win, but someone's got to. That's just plain old probability. Otherwise no-one would ever win anything!

Well no, they are independent events, so it doesn't matter how many you've entered in the past, you've still got the same chance of winning as someone who just joins hexus and enters a competition.

This is not about talking probability of winning same competition. its about total competition of hexus. as independent event of each competition it have same probability of everyone . But as a entering total of competitions vs single competition there is a different story

p(person who apply for lot of competitions) = (1 /(Avg(total applicants))*total competitions he have entered
    p(person who apply for single competions) = (1 /(Avg(total applicants))*1

Re: Winning a hexus competition = a day dream for me

But the expected number of wins is irrelevant. Your chance of winning any competition is exactly the same as everyone else, new or old.
