What would your dream house be?

We're putting our house on the market in the new year and seem to be spending all our time on right move at the minute so for a bit of light relief we're playing fantasy houses.
You get to choose one from somewhere like this http://www.sothebysrealty.co.uk/ and so far I've chosen a small, cosy manor house that has Warwick castle in the back garden.
Any contributions to wards my dream house will be gratefully received

My dream house is back home in Cornwall. It's on the edge of the village of Zennor on the seaward side. In fact it's overlooking the cliffs and coastline. The views are just simply stunning.

This is quite nice and only "Slightly Haunted"... Link

Slightly haunted. Nothing serious, though. e.g. The sounds of phantom footsteps. A strange knocking sound followed by a very quiet (hardly noticeable, even) scream at 3:13am, maybe once a week. Twice a week, tops. And the occasional ghastly visage lurking behind you in the bathroom mirror. Even still, this occurs very rarely and only in the second floor bathroom
I did always want a house with hidden rooms/corridors accessed from in wardrobes or behind bookshelves though so i'm sold

Bill Gate's house would win it for me.

    http://labnol.blogspot.co.uk/2005/05...ates-home.html

Sadly even a euromillions top jackpot win wouldn't be enough to afford to buy and live in it for long - it was valued at $147million US and costs approx $1million US /year in property tax alone!

Beautiful house though that has a good mix of modern, classic and natural living!

I like 3 story town houses, with a second lounge on the 2nd floor. Awesome. Firemans pole all the way from top to bottom will be a bonus! Stripper pole elsewhere >_>"

Or a quaint little cottage by a lake / river with mooring, water wheel and shed loads of land for...well...sheds. lots of em.

Hmm, I'm not so fussed - it's not very homely and somehow it just doesn't look real.

He may as well live in Trumpton.

Re: What would your dream house be?

My ideal home would have to be built for me, particularly the interior, as I'd love to have a properly wired LAN, sufficient power points in each area of the house for the devices which live there, and a mix of open plan living spaces, with quiet nooks in which to hide away with a book and a coffee.

Oh, and according to my partner, enough storage for her current 600+ teas and room to expand that

Re: What would your dream house be?

Tough question. Ideally I'd like one that is big and rambling enough that I'd need to gives guests a map to find the toilet!
My grandfather lives in a house at the end of a lane in rural Norfolk. It used to be servents quarters for the house next door and the two houses are still joined but only by an area the size of a doorway. I think this could meet my requirements for getting guests lost and would finally give me space for a server room.

Sadly, the geek in me doesn't want to live somewhere where the only broadband supplier is BT and the best speed available is 3mb. And the walls are so thick that the wireless covers the room the router is in and thats about it.

Speaking of location rather than house design, I'd like one with no neighbours. I don't mean detached, I really mean no neighbours, if you can see them with binoculars then they are too close! But I'd also like to be withing walking distance of Norwich city centre again... I think I might need to wait for teleporting to be affordable before I move house.

Re: What would your dream house be?

At this point in my life? There is a couple small apartment ideas on here which would get my vote of perfect living space for me. I don't like having a large house thats not being used.

    http://freshome.com/2012/10/01/bes-s...designs-ideas/

As for longer term I'm not sure what I would want out of a family home... somewhere out of England, that Queenslander by Byron Bay would be perfect as thats one of my fave places in the world
