Proposing over a cheese and marmite sandwich! :p

Yup, finally got round to popping the big question! Yesp Feb 12th is the date - none of this 3 year engagement lark!

Kind of a crazy romance, so in typical fashion, I surprised her in her kitchen (really it was a ploy to stop her eating a cheese and marmite sandwich - cunning - although I think it is going a bit far to wean her off the vile stuff that is marmite!). She was a bit surprised, as I said it'd be in a restaurant or something.

    Anyway, she said yes.

So .... finally getting round to the question I was going to post, how many of you are in getting ready for the big day, and did anyone else have a particularly amusing/bizarre proposal.

Cheers all, it's been a bit mental!

Still, I'm looking forward to married life, tartan slippers, smoking a pipe, 2.4 kids, a golden retriever and a volvo.

    ...On second thoughts .....

Don't get me started on the reception!! There's probably gonna be silly amounts of people at the ceremony as my better half is a teacher, so lots of her students have promised to gatecrash it ... yes it could well be a day to remember.

Wherabouts would that be? I know there was a post ages ago about where the various Hexusites were situated, but I can't remember there being a "Near the thriving metropolis that is Banbury" option!

After going out with my other half for about three months, we got lashed one night and I proposed to her outside a restaurant, by taking a ring off one of her other fingers and putting it on her ring finger. I'm pretty sure I only did it for a laugh, I didn't think she'd take it seriously. Anyway we've been married for 14 months now and we're very happy.

Good luck with your wedding mate, short notice is definately the way to go, I had to put up with months and months of planning, hassle, moaning etc.

Yup, Bloxham is where my "to be" works! (That's probably the root cause of the wierdness!)

    LOL.

It's a bit like that for me at the moment. I took a ring off her right hand and put it on her left, as at the time of proposal I hadn't ordered the ring ... but hopefully that will be here in the not too distant future.

She was a bit surprised as we had talked about getting married for ages, and I taunted her with "threats" of proposals and the like, and I had had this image of what I would do and where it would be etc, but in the end it was in her kitchen, over the aforementioned sandwich...which she had for breakfast the next day in the end Darn it, I will teach her that marmite is the food of the devil!

I eventually got her a ring for her birthday a few months later. She doesn't even wear it now, havng insisted I get her a white gold ring, she now wears a gold one her mum gave her

over the aforementioned sandwich...which she had for breakfast the next day in the end Darn it, I will teach her that marmite is the food of the devil!
Coincidentally, my wife is a marmite eater too. I don't mind the marmite so much, but I definately mind her leaving the knife covered in it stuck to the kitchen worktop!
