Had a really nasty car smash on Monday afternoon. Just coming home from pharmacy got hit by another car.

My Citroen Xara Picasso did a bit of ballet dancing, pirouetting thru 90 degrees and almost rolling over, before landing right side up. EMS were there really fast with all four services inc Air Ambulance, they were amazing. Got cut out of the car, which is completely writted off, spent three night in hospital. Feels like two or three busted ribs which are ridiculously sore, plus a bang on the left knee and foot, big set of seat belt bruises and a very stiff right shoulder.

I reckon if Id have been in anything smaller than by Picasso I would have been toast.

When I had my mbike accident a few years ago I was also impressed with EMS, not so much with the hospital though.

Blimey. I hope you're not too badly injured and have a speedy recovery, and remember it's just a car (or so I keep telling myself after writing off my car last year - though all I got was a big bruise from the seat belt and some very brown trousers).

Lucky indeed - any gory deets on the accident? You've probably already done it, but write an account of what went on straight away, literally everything you can remember, date it. Even if its straightforward insurance can be a hassle. If it goes into any form of argument even seemingly obvious details can be missed, and you want to make sure you're as consistent as possible.

Glad you are still in one piece g8ina, although I wouldn't mix pain killers with alcohol, no point doing a Heath Ledger. As herulach said it's probably best to make some kind of written account for insurance/legal reasons.

Actually that might not be the case, it probably isn't chance but a lot of work by engineers on tight budgets that have made the crash so survivable. I wouldn't say to ignore the great design that has been done on a lot of cars!

That is very true - perhaps the same crash 20 years ago might not have had such a happy outcome.

Bit of an extreme way to hitch a ride in a helicopter though.

Holy... I hope you are ok man. Glad you're ok, apart from the trauma and the bruises. Hope you heal well and have a few drinks to relax at home recovering from those injuries.
