I used to point them out back when it was a few errors a week but now I see them on a daily basis and have given up pointing them out.

I like making sure details are taken care of; a week or more before a deadline I only fix minor details like grammar and spelling in my reports. It might not get me too many extra marks but it certainly prevents me loosing marks though and Hexus has been loosing my interest steadily over the last few years thanks to the increase in these minor details being over looked. The forums are amazing which is what keeps me on the website but without the forums I'd be reading my technology news elsewhere and I worry that similar cutting of corners will occur at bit-tech.

It will be interesting to see what effect this change of ownership has. I hope that it has a positive effect on both websites and the owner learns from the new site and uses that knowledge to address issues in the old and vice versa.
    'Losing' not 'loosing' . Sorry

Bit-tech CPU and GPU reviews can be a bit meh though. I have pointed out mistakes in Bit-tech articles and once they threatened to ban me just because I pointed out one of their articles was factually incorrect. It only took a load of people agreeing with me to change their stance.

Hexus unlike a lot of review sites actually listens to its readers feedback.

I hope Bit-tech has some of that rub off on them.

Gotta love things like that, its almost like they want to bury the shame of poor articles.

How long ago was this? I can't think of any of the current writers doing that. Most are happy to receive feedback, and will often take part in discussions in the forum thread about the article.

I'm guessing you're talking about Gareth, who is pretty much the epitome of that. But a lot has changed since they sacked everyone, and it wasn't all that long ago either.

Gareth is definitely one of if not the most active certainly

Meanmotion just said he wasn't informed in advance that he wouldn't be carrying on under the new leadership which seems a bit poor, but hopefully it was just a bit of miscommunication.

Don't ask me how, but somehow the site is running even slower than it did with Dennis.

In all honesty, glad to see the back of Dennis, but some teething issues are causing slow downs and bad gateway error messages.

There have been some changes to the site's hosting arrangements, but I'm sure these initial problems will be sorted out.

The worst of the performance issues should now be improved. Things will get even better, when I have all the pieces ready.

Had no idea this happened, there's nothing on the front page about it. Hope there's a chance of an update to the monthly buyer's guide, used to love reading them.

    Re: Hexus buy Bit tech.....

Well Bit Tech was a superb web site once. Its community is more active than this one BUT there seems to be far more yanks on there which means the activity tends to be a bit more meaningful on this site (nothing against americans). However becoming a part of CustomPC magazine dragged the content right down whilst the quality of Hexus content improved dramatically (to probably become one of the best few on the web right now but it needs a better editor that actually reads through the content to find the numerous errors!).

Hopefully David can rescue that site. Its evidence that traditional paper based publishers don't really know how to deal with the web and probably never will. Good luck David!

Care to share which thread this was in? As far as I can see, you mentioned handbrake in two threads and no staff or mods threatened you at all.

It was one of their graphics card reviews.

You mean when he told you off for link spamming, rather than claiming their testing method was flawed (in a completely different thread)?

Because it was incorrect. They wrongly stated the price of the AMD cards, and when evidence was shown to the contrary, they tried to weasel out of it.

So basically they were going to keep the article as it was, with faulty pricing meaning their conclusions were wrong. It was false advertising.

Plus no it was not link spamming. The fact I could post a few dozen links from multiple retailers showed that their statements about pricing were wrong and were misleading the consumer.

If it took me a few minutes just to look at Google shopping, then it is indicative of very poor standards indeed.

The more they deflected the more links I posted.

The fact they started getting aggressive with me(even by PM) was indicative of how they were trying to deflect things.

It took a load of people supporting me for them,to change the article.

Its not the first time I had to correct them for wrong pricing.

Look at their HD7850 and HD7870 reviews. They even refused to score both of them at launch and never bothered to update them afterwards either.
