Sick Of Job..

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is anyone on here that is a web/gfx designer? See the thing is i want to get into that line of work but finding it extreamly hard to. At present i am a IT tech/Admin.. I can't bare to be in the job anymore. I feel like an artist traped in a cage with a paint brush. I can't leave the job either because of the mortgage and family to support so i am stuck.

I have tried applying to around 20 company's in my area and no joy. I can't even get to an interview. I have no experience in a work place you see but i think i am good enough (self learnt) to at least get an interview. I also am doing my HNC in computing at nights which i thought would help but doesn't. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to get my foot in the door?

i;m a graphic designer and tbh its all about your portfolio and knowledge of print.

to get into my grade u must have a degree to even get an interview or a ton of experience and serious talent.

not everyone can be a designer and do graphics from scratch, just because u can muck around or know photoshop is not going to get u a job.

get on a course, get a portfolio and be prepared to start at the bottom
