Back in the day of Cobal and DOS no one thought much of a little company called Microsoft. Microsoft a company that took software that no one cared about and did the miracle of smoke and mirrors, with a little marketing to become the gaint it is today.
They song and danced into your heart of the miracle OS, yet before Nike was Nike they produced nothing but marketed a brand name. Yes give them credit for marketing and polishing the product......so the gleem comes off once in awhile, that why there are Service Packs to make it sparkle again.
Now forward almost 30 years, Linux is now the new miracle OS but with a twist, when no one cared about Microsoft starting out, Microsoft is beating the bushes with ads about the cost of Linux, all the beautiful things you can't do. The have several heavy hitters giving this research information to back them up. Did I forget to say they funded the research for the most part?
Truth be told with out Microsoft OS and related hardware alot of what we do and how we got into computers wouldn't be, well maybe it just made doing it easier. So here's a warning of sorts we can end up down the same path of greed and the flavor of the week service packs if Linux is ever gathered up in one huge company. I don't see it happening as this is an open source product for the most part......but be warned there are people who took the simplist plan be it government or someone with cash to spend that if we let them will bastard a very promising future.
Thoughts on the subject.
