Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
yes it is demanding and no I wasn't lasy and therefore I hope I didn't pay the price. the reason I was, and still am up, for such a long time (past 40hrs by now) is that I HAD to hand in a piece of work today, 3/4 of which amounted to the size of the small speck of dust just settling on your sleeve now, before the weekend. I had to see my tutors with all the results and discuss it all.Originally posted by Korky
I want to do Msci also at Uni, is it always that demanding or were u lazy and payed the price
and since they work for MOD its hard to get hold of them, one is always out to america flame testing chemical weapon suits and the other is just Uber-busy (thats a lot more than just 'unbelievably busy')
so it not a case of not putting the work in - I was chained to my computer struggling with excel (god how I hate it) for a good 4 weeks solid, just going through all the data I had collected. it all had to be processed in various different ways depending what it was a measure of and then ALL the data was integrated in some way that gives o coherent result into what we were investigating...and only then could I complete the write-up. It was not until friday evening that I could start the write up - I had already done the Method section (scientists will know it goes Intro-Method-Results-discussion) hence 3/4 still left to go and not much time.
did it though. I think its one of the things students can just DO...
and i do not wish to be awake for this period of time again in the near future. I did pul a WHOLE weekend once, but had to call in sick monday becauseI was falling asleep AS I WAS WALKING DOWN THE STREET!!! i know, felt very weird. i think i know now what it is like to fall asleep behind the wheel. ...
BTW what were you planning on studying Korky?
Everyone knows the best bits of work are the ones you did the night before!Originally posted by Korky

Been there, done that, it's stupid, never done it again, 36 hours with out sleep is neither clever or for that matter impressive.

48hrs is my record and it almost killed me.
I love my sleep!
i cant do mornings, believe me im not to be f**ked with before 11.30am
36 hrs can be normally done.
The worst for me was when I went for a whole month on 2 hrs sleep each night, had 5 black coffees during the day and had a diazepam/valium at night to go to sleep and woke up 2 hrs later to continue working.
After that month, after my last exam, I slept for 27 hrs straight.

Wait till you have a young baby, and you'll be praying for more sleep....
I would recommend Guarana and green Tea to get you through the day. You can also get brain food tablets which keep you mentally alert - to keep the brain fog at bay.
I need these during the day as I get intermittent sleep throughout the night with a young baby. Not so good !!!
Erm, holly thread revival batman!
I've been awake now for 33 hours still on that second wind too!

Dude, I think he would be dead by now if he had been awake for 2 years+.
When I returned from London 3 years ago, I drove home (about 180 miles) after being awake for 48 hours. I was surely the most dangerous person on the road at 2AM.

edit : Longest i've done is around the 72 mark... But that's because I was bricking it over something. Even after that I only managed a couple of hours sleep :/
