I guess it just comes down to what we are used to. Of course there is going to be an outcry when something we used to get is taken away from us. It's human nature. It's also human nature that after moaning about it most will carry on continuing to use Amazon anyway.
I guess this is what happens when you have such a dominant company in a market without a solid competitor.
In the U.S Amazon go as far as to stock more commonly purchased products in certain areas and deliver the items using bike couriers, if I remember rightly delivery time can be within the hour.
Personally speaking the change in shipping charges probably won't change the way I use Amazon. Several items I've ordered from them recently have arrived days before the predicted date, the torque wrench I ordered last wednesday for instance had a predicted delivery date the following Saturday but actually arrived mid-thursday morning. I'll happily pay for service like that when I need it and structure the orders of little bits and bobs that aren't time sensitive to me around the new pricing structure.
That's not to say I don't hate some of their business practices and see them jacking up prices across the board once they control even more of the market but for the time being there won'tbe much gnashing of teeth over this on my part.

Only this year started using Amazon for purchases, TBH increase in spend isn't going to stop me buying from them in future.
Previously Ebuyer used to be the 1st e-tailer I'd check for PC bits due to the whole super saver delivery option (IIRC spend req.over £50) plus usually had what I wanted at good price. Why I'm now avoiding them is due to how one of their Ex-Display items was clearly incorrectly described. It was a PITA to gain an RMA and I had to fork out for return postage when I felt they should've paid.
Amazon's CS has been super IMO, never ever have I had a refund on a purchase after having bought it and price dropped, they did this twice for same purchase! . Both occasions polite little email and ASAP refund, this feature alone up'd their chances of getting future business from me.
They also sold an incorrectly described item via the Amazon warehouse deals route but 1 polite little email and I get 20% refund of purchase price and still had option to return FOC within 30 days if dissatisfied. Also I don't know many e-tailers that give 1 years warranty with used / refurb'd items which they sell via the warehouse deal route. I luv'd how even the contact by phone option worked, their ring back was virtually instant!
The level of CS and after purchase support has impressed me so much, the way the website works in your account section is the best IMO.
For me they could increase their min.spend to £50, the same as Ebuyer and still they'd remain at no 1 position always to buy from, currently.

In my experience prime has been valuable, I watch a lot of the amazon prime stuff now (they seem to have good content now!) and order quite a bit from amazon as 90% of the time its the same price if not cheaper than anywhere else. After two years I have only had 3 late deliveries (by 1 day maximum), everytime I simply went to amazon support said this wasnt good and they gave me a 1 month extension free of charge which is perfectly fine by me as its extremely rare.
Its not just the free one day delivery its the fact you get FREE saturday and sunday delivery! a few items I have ordered recently from amazon would have cost £10 per item for a saturday slot but with prime is so convenient.
each to their own, if you dont order much then prime is useless but if you do then it can be worth it . Free spend doesnt really affect me and I can understand them wanting to put it up as everyone else has been of late.

Which is my situation.
I don't order much, and Prime is a non-starter, especially as I have zero interest in video streaming services from them.
Personally, the change in order limit won't change my behaviour much, if at all, because for the odd order I do make, it usually exceeds both the old and new minimum.
The other aspect of Amazon, which makes paying slight premium on price anyway, is their return policy and process, which is as about as efficient and hassle free as it is possible to get. Print the label, take it to a pick up point/locker/post office and within a couple of days of receipt either a full refund or a replace the. No testing fee, no quibble, no delay.

Definitely agree with this, Amazon Customer Support never ceases to amaze for me. I'll still stick to my plan of waiting and bundling for free postage unless I really need something immediately, but it's certainly not going to make me move away from Amazon because you can't get much safer it seems.
I have a Wish List with well over £200 in it... when the final order goes in it's always over £20 so this is fine by me
What I DO dislike is both late AND early delivery. I need to be in ... it arriving one day early helps me not one jot as.. I'm not in.
SO... collection points for me as superb

Yeah, like when I opted for Prime,it ended up that one delivery came on Sunday, the next on Tuesday and the next on Friday. Ordered everything on the same day,on the Friday before.
Amazon's response - "its the courier's fault -wait a bit longer for the items to turn up!".
Who gives a crap about Saturday or Sunday delivery if none of it ever comes on time,or they use **** delivery companies.
Prime is just useless. But hey, lets bury all the negative things about Amazon, because its
AMAZIN' AMAZON!!!
In fact other mates have started to unsubscribe from it too,as the litany of late deliveries and crap companies they use means, you might as well use free postage.
****tylink might have died a death, bit since they use whatever "flavour of the day" courier round here,I could be hit by Yodel,Hermes or someother useless courier.
It means as a retailer they are extremely unreliable to use.
I am not wasting my time waiting around for a delivery for days on end, since Amazon wants to save a few more pennies.
Only the lockers have kind of saved them for me,otherwise no more Amazon for me.
Plus,I don't care if they are brilliant in another area - their commitment to customer service was quite apparent when they used **** delivery companies, with a history of problems, for years round here, and then asked me to wait another day for a delivery which should have already arrived much earlier.
Their commitment is to their own pocket.

CAT-THE-FIFTH, move to an area with Amazon Logistics coverage, problem solved.
