I use Google Hangouts and G+ on my desktop and Google has announced some new layout changes!

Old Style - both on the same page.

New Style - now they are on different tabs,with lots of empty space,meaning you need to flick between both.

Serious Google. Not new and improved. New and retarded more like.

Its getting sad how companies are just not even caring about PC users anymore.

Who cares if you have a large widescreen,when we can make the PC slower than using a tablet now!!

Ah crumbs, looks like I'm going to have to create a Facebook profile again I deleted mine years ago and move to Google+ when I spent more time sorting out the privacy of my account than I did using it. I know have a group of friends with which we regularly hold online events and have polls to decide what games to play - neither of which are possible with the new Google+.

Dag nammit! Spent ages to convincing everyone to use G+. Annoyed!

I don't use Google Hangouts or G+ but I do really hate it when they force an "update" to a system/UI and make things more difficult to use or remove a "core" feature without the option of choosing the older option. What's more annoying is when there are no alternatives to such things. At least most of the time I'm not paying any money for these things.

Seriously though why don't developers/designers sometimes just listen to petitions/feedback etc to give an option or to keep an older feature/look?

this is the problem with the modern online licence (and or free) cloud based software. you don't have the ability to control what software you use and when you choose to move on buy an upgrade etc. it's rubbish. the consumer/end user/purchaser has absolutely zero control in return for their payment.

my friend used to work for google (he left a few months ago). I often said to him that as much as google like to say their motto is "Don't be evil" they could do with extending it to "and don't be lame either." They do a good job of forgetting that last bit IMO. That said, they did replace my wife's phone for free. So they're not all bad.

They have made the changes because they were not happy with the low number of G+ users.

Don't use it and they can then see they made it worse.....

Which is one reason I'm refusing to "upgrade" (though I dispute the accuracy of that term, in that context because for me, it's anything but an upgrade) to Win10. it's not the only reason, but it's sufficient all on it's own.

As for G+ etc, I understand the irritation but as there's no way I'd touch it in the first place, it doesn't affect me.

with you on that one. I still use various bits of old software from 2000 that do what I need them to. paid a lot for them back then. If they had been cloud based I'd be continually made to pay for them or have lost the ability to use them now that the manufacturer has decided they no longer want to develop or maintain them.

I didn't know anyone still used gGoogle hangouts. G+ i(and hangouts) are just piecesof useless bloatware that I'd happily lose off my phone to make space for something useful. But I guess some people find them useful, pity they aren't optional. But then if it was that popular, Google wouldn't need to force it on users as a core application.
