Digital Camera reccomendations

Ahhh here we go - its her birthday at the end of the month, and for some reason she has an issue with carting my S5000 around for the occasional snap.
(can't think why )

Anyway - she wants an Olympus MJU-410, looks pretty good, nice price on Ebuyer,

My brother has a Nikon Coolpix 3700, nice little camara. If you can stretch a little further, take a look at the Fuji FinePix F700 or maybe the Fuji F810.

I got one for my b'day, and it does everything. I can also vouch that it fits into "going out" bags quite well too. (for those girly nights out)

one serious issue with Mju Skii my man....its to easy to CLOSE when you hold it. Sair has a 35mm film version. Awesome camera, and splash proof (you splashed me ) but to get it to work you pull it "apart" and out pops the lense and then when you want to take a pic, its WAY too easy to slide it closed a tiny bit and it shuts off...and you have to wait again while you open it.

Its critical at the wrong moment...makes me MAD

one serious issue with Mju Skii my man....its to easy to CLOSE when you hold it. Sair has a 35mm film version. Awesome camera, and splash proof (you splashed me ) but to get it to work you pull it "apart" and out pops the lense and then when you want to take a pic, its WAY too easy to slide it closed a tiny bit and it shuts off...and you have to wait again while you open it.

I reckon its a bit old now (last august) and some new ones are out in japan which you can get here some where. Its nice an slim and you can get it in your pocket. works fast nice massive screen which is nearly the size of the camera.

and a sony which is brand new i think, cant say i like sony though i prefer SD cards esp the 10 Mbps ones.

I've always had Fuji cameras and they seem pretty good.

I have a Casio EX-Z40, its a nice pocketable camera. I wouldn't bother with the higher models (Z50/Z55) as the Pentax lens only just does credit to the 4meg CCD in normal mode (macro is ultra sharp). Very long battery life, but it charges from a dock so you have been warned. I know others have had mixed results with the Casios, but I'm happy with mine. The only mistake I made was identifying what I wanted, I think a more bulky prosumer model would have met my needs better. However you already have one to hand so its not an issue.

Can't say I've had that problem with my MJU 300

It's a nice little camera. I'd recommend it. I can only imagine the 410 is better

Good feedback Gunbuster m8 - how do you mean by charging from a dock - so it comes with a rechargeable battery and must be engaged into a docking station ?

You flip down the battery cover, take out the little tiny battery (about 2CM square it is very small) and slot the battery into a dock. Excellent design imho

right...back we go....you plug the entire camera into a PLINTH...a hlder...and when you go on holiday you have to take that whle thing to charge it up. Not just a cable.
