Not saying that's the OP, or that there's any need for hate - everyone just needs to be nice - but you do have to wonder what gets people to the crazy state of mind.
I think you are describing classic "out-group" selection bias here.

The fact is that cyclists are less likely to be found at fault, than motorists according to TFL data.

You suggest that mouthing off at pedestrians who "dare to be crossing a road", I mean who's right of way is it?

The highway code is pretty clear that pedestrians have right of way when they are already crossing a road. Applies to all road users. A car cannot plough into a pedestrian in the road and blame the pedestrian for being there. Same goes for cyclists. It's that kind of self-righteous attitude that results in the angry cyclists I witness on a regular basis.

I'm not talking about accident statistics and whether the car or cyclist is at fault, I'm talking about the number of cyclists I witness breaking the law by jumping red lights, failing to stop at crossings, and who seem to think that because they're a bike they can clatter through pedestrians at will.

I think the implication from TheAnimus was that the pedestrians sometimes ignore the impending cyclist who had right of way and step out into the road regardless.

But yes, living, cycling and driving in Bristol it's scary how many cars, vans, taxis, busses and cyclist run red lights. If they put cameras on the lights outside Temple Meads station they'd make a killing, hopefully one won't happen.

    Re: Hit and run :(

I think we can assume everyone is as bad as each other.

An ignorant pedestrian crossing a road without looking is the same attitude as a cyclist bursting through a red light and a car barging into a cycle lane to continue travelling.

It's an attitude problem, thinking "I am the priority in this situation", coupled with a total lack of patience. Perhaps that person does have right of way but exercising it does not have to be so grevious too all involved as some make it.

Glad to hear you're (relatively) well OP, and hope all goes well with recovering your expenses.

Yup, it's infuriating for me there is one junction in the city that people always walk straight out into the road from, not looking at the cycle lane to see if it's clear.

I've hit someone before because they've just walked straight out a meter in front of me, I didn't even have time to brake.

Why do I have to be the 1st to ask for the video to be posted, I know everyone else wanted to ask :|

I didn't ask because the police are supposed to be involved. If they come up blank, then I think the video needs to go viral.

Update guys. Apparently the car is still registered to the old owner... I hope the footage I gave plus eye witness etc is enough to find the culprit

I want to make sure all of it is dealt with by the police before posting the video online.

Not sure if it has any bearing on the case if I posted the video now online?

    Re: Hit and run :(

Did the moron know he was on dash cam?
Makes me wonder if he had been drinking and figured it best to get out any way possible and sober up b4 the law came knocking.
Amazing they didn't go round and arrest him on the spot to rule this out.

Probably best to play it safe with the footage, at least until the police are ok with it appearing online. I really ought to stop putting off investing in a dashcam!

The old owner should have his portion of the V5 which gives the new owner's details. Unless he sold it to a dealer, in which case they should have the new buyer's details...
