    Re: Realy good burgers

Good burgers can hit you in the face from out of nowhere.
My best burgers have not been from these shores however.

There are 2 stand-out burgers that I recall that blew my socks off. Both from the states, not from the same state.

I will post the details here, only because I would be remiss to not divulge the information of such good burgers should any of the Hexus forumites be in the vicinity at any time in the future (not that I can vouch for the ongoing success of these burger joints, but I would definitely risk visiting again on the off-chance that they are equally superb!)

Most recently I visited "The Garage", Edmond, Oklahoma. https://eatatthegarage.com/
    GRILLED JALAPEÑO BACON CHEESER
Garlic Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Fresh Grilled Jalapeños, Bacon, and American Cheese

Melt in the mouth, perferctly seasoned, just the right amount of spice from the jalepenos. Mouthgasm.

My number one burger that i can recall was at McNear's Saloon & Dining House, Petaluma, N California. (The place American Graffiti was filmed, and where Mesa Boogie are based ~ for the guitarists, also where the beer Lagunitas is brewed, when it's not brewed in chicago)...
American Graffiti Burger – "Our choice Black Angus ground beef topped with American cheese, 1000 Island dressing, and sliced pickles on a burger bun. A classic! "

Simple, but effective. Hands down the best, simple burger, I've ever eaten.

Never underestimate the power of a good chef and great ingredients.

The best burgers are always those you can make yourself.
For example, at some point this week I've promised to braai up some brisket burgers, with bacon, cheese and mayo for the wife (because she's weird and belongs in French Canada), monkey gland for everyone else.

    Re: Realy good burgers

For the money, the best burger I can get around here is Morrisons' 'The Best' brand burgers. £3 or £4 for 4, and they're much better than the usual offerings. Nice and thick, and good flavour.

I'm sure there are far better burgers to be had, but for money and easily available, I haven't beaten them yet.

Might be having an end of summer grill this Saturday actually. Will probably grab a few of those and some of the acclaimed Morrisons' Shorthorn steaks that have been raved about.

    Agreed.

Or better yet, "home made" burgers made by someone else. When did you intend cooking those?

    Reservation for two, about 7:30pm?

I can pencil you in for a general reservation, but exact confirmation will be via telepathy, as are all matters relating to the Ttaskmistress these days - She's a bit all-over-the-place at the minute, especially because of her work. I have to guess (and then second-guess) even the tiniest decisions, else our whole world goes to pieces, at least for the rest of the evening.

Sorry about the delay in answering. I was at the library getting some books: Basic Telepathy for Novices, Telepathy Self-Help, Dummies Guide to Telepathy and Telepathy for the Serious Burger-Lover.

Not that that burger description sounded good, you understand.

Is there not a woman in your life?
Not meant as an insult, but rather the suggestion that they can just telepathically interface with each other, and thus you'd know exactly when the braai was on... which was yesterday, by the way.

But then, had you known to do this, you'd not have been up the library when you should have been round my place!!

My taste buds are now crying. In mourning for their loss.

    How could you?

Sob. Sniff. Still ..... life goes on. Poorer, and just a tad more monotone but ..... now, where'd I put those SSRI's.

    Re: Realy good burgers

My favourites are home made steamed Jack Daniels burgers.

Admittedly, they look a little grey (although you can give them a little blowtorch for colour before serving!) but taste amazing and the steaming allows the very wet mix to stay together while cooking.

    Juiciest burger ever.
