    Compuserve chat rooms and MUDs. Compuserve used to charge you by the minute in addition to BT charging you by the minute. I racked up a £60 bill and my dad wasn't happy!

    I joined Gamespy arcade and downloaded the latest half-life multplayer patch which took all night to download.Didn't bother with chat rooms or pron.straight into online gaming..

    I dunno...

    set up an email addy n then spent hours teaching my ex to be patient with dial up and that the PC couldnt tap into his brain and 'KNOW' what he wanted it to do!! lol

    Does compunet on my commodore C64 count? Think that would have been way back in 1986 ish for me. No MSM, no yahoo, no ebay. Think ICPUG were on there, so probably had a look at them.
